Solidarity Statement with Julie Tait and the Lakes International Comic Art Festival: Freedom of Expression in the Face of Intimidation

At a time when there is a deliberate attempt to silence the Palestinian narrative and corner anyone who dares to give it a platform, Julie Tait, Director of the Lakes International Comic Art Festival (LICAF) in the UK, is fighting a crucial battle in defense of artistic freedom and humanity. She is facing a vicious campaign of defamation and incitement launched by right-wing media aiming to intimidate the festival and punish her for her steadfast, principled, and humanitarian positions.

This systematic incitement is not new; it is a direct continuation of the censorship tactics unleashed two years ago when the festival hosted Palestinian cartoonist Mohammad Sabaaneh as a keynote guest, and the festival and its director courageously organized the very first Palestinian comics exhibition outside of Palestine. At that time, an aggressive campaign of incitement and unprecedented verbal violence was launched against the idea of hosting Sabaaneh and against his artwork, which conveys the reality of human suffering in occupied Palestine. Despite immense political and media pressure, alongside attempts at cultural blackmail, Julie Tait refused to back down or bow, remaining steadfast in her belief that the world must see the Palestinian visual narrative.

However, the real danger this time lies in the malicious attempt to target the festival itself and its director personally, seeking to penalize her and force her to close the free cultural spaces she strives to create for Arab and Palestinian creators to tell their stories to the world, following the recent invitation of a Jordanian colleague.

We express our deepest respect and profound solidarity with Julie Tait. The attempts to punish her for sponsoring artistic residencies and championing Palestinian creators will only strengthen the international cultural community's support for her and LICAF.

Thank you, Julie Tait. Our solidarity with you is absolute, and your courage will always inspire everyone who believes in the freedom of art.

When lines and colors shatter the silence... How did the "Children in War" exhibition echo across the globe?

This event, hosted in the Belgian city of Torhout, was far from just a passing exhibition; it has transformed into a major transcontinental humanitarian movement. The collective conscience of 400 cartoonists from 76 countries came together, contributing 890 artworks. Out of these, the finest 120 pieces were selected to tour the world, kicking off the first stop with 32 poignant artworks that shook hearts and raised a collective voice to defend an innocence being crushed amidst fire and rubble.

We extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to feridundemir.org for their boundless support. By taking the initiative to share the exhibition’s news and moving imagery across their website and digital platforms, they have served as a living bridge, carrying the pain of these innocent children to millions of followers worldwide.

Thank you for being a true voice for justice and peace.

This outcry continues to carry its noble message until September 30, 2026:
📣 "One voice. One message. No to war. Save the children."

Fascism Knows No Species: In Full Solidarity with Pal/..est/...inian "Lucy

Even animals aren't safe from their sheer brutality and sa**sm... A dog named "Lucy" is savagely beaten simply because her owner is Pal/.. est/.. inian!

Driven by our innate humanity and deeply rooted values, we stand in full solidarity with this poor, innocent pet. But this begs the question: Where are the international animal welfare and rights organizations now? Where have your manufactured tears and outrage vanished? Or has the owner’s Pal/.. est/... inian identity stripped even his dog of her "animal rights" in your eyes? Since the victim here is an animal—something you claim to care about far more than Pal/..est/... inian human lives—show us your principles. Or does your hypocrisy stop where Pal/.. est/... inian existence begins?

An Age Where Killing Is Routine and Compassion a Crime

What kind of heart has turned to stone that it no longer hears the cries of innocent cats and dogs in the streets of Egypt, Iraq, and other so-called “third world” countries?

Every day, crimes are committed—executions in disguise—where innocence is destroyed for no reason but ignorance, inhumanity, and apathy.

Some run them over, others poison them, dragging their helpless bodies behind motorcycles for long distances until they die, as if they were not living beings with the right to life, pain, fear, and hunger.

How vile is this “inhumanity” that hides behind the excuse of order, cleanliness, or imaginary fear!.

What happens is nothing more than a distorted mirror reflecting the cruelty of societies that have forgotten compassion, and governments that have abandoned their moral duty toward the weakest creatures.

Whoever kills an animal in cold blood kills a part of their own soul without realizing it — and the one who grows numb to such suffering today will not hesitate to harm a fellow human tomorrow.
