Four years have passed since Paula Rego’s death, but her art feels anything but distant.

This spring, MUNCH opened the largest exhibition of Rego’s work since her passing on 8 June 2022, bringing together more than 140 works from across her remarkable career.

👩‍🎨 Drawing on fairy tales, memories, politics and lived experience, Rego created works that continue to resonate today. Her stories of power, vulnerability, desire and resistance remain as compelling as ever.

For the first time ever, experience Edvard Munch’s iconic Freia frieze up close, raw and unframed.
 
📽️ In this documentary, we follow the journey of 12 monumental paintings from the Freia chocolate factory to MUNCH.
 
Created for Freia’s women’s canteen in 1922, the frieze was the first decorative art commission for a factory – a groundbreaking project that brought art into everyday life.
 
🍫 The exhibition also explores the story of Freia, Norway’s most beloved chocolate brand, which placed employee welfare and culture at the heart of its philosophy, alongside a rich selection of sketches and worker motifs by Munch from the same period.

The evenings are stretching a little longer, and summer suddenly feels closer than ever 🌅
 
Moonlit coastlines and figures drawn toward the sea – these works capture the quiet shift between seasons, when evenings seem endless.
 
How are you spending the brighter days? Perhaps swimming in the n**e, just as Edvard Munch imagined? 🧑‍🎨
 
📍At MUNCH, the season is shifting too. Visit and watch the light settle over Oslo from above. Open Wednesday–Saturday until 21:00. The skybar stays open until midnight.
