Introducing our 3rd featured chef:
CHEF NHICK ONNAGAN
Chef Nhick’s kitchen journey began in 2012 at Aristocrat Restaurant in Robinsons Malate, where he spent three years developing his skills and building his foundation in the restaurant industry.
In 2019, his wife brought him and their daughter to Norway, beginning a new chapter in his culinary career. Over the following seven years, Nhick worked in different kitchens and explored a range of cuisines, from sushi and Thai to Mexican food and burgers, with his latest experience at Creddo.
Throughout his journey, one dream remained: to open a Filipino restaurant in Oslo.
For Chef, however, Mangkok is about more than introducing Filipino food. It is about sharing Filipino culture through food.
He believes that a mangkok, a simple bowl, can bring family and friends together around the same table, sharing food, stories, laughter, and memories. That sense of togetherness is at the heart of what Filipino culture means to him.
THE MANGKOK MISSION
Through Mangkok, Nhick wants to show that Filipino food and culture belong on the table in this part of the world.
More importantly, he wants the younger generation of Filipinos growing up in Norway to understand where they come from and remember the importance of their culture, so they can pass it on to their own children.
One bowl. One table. Shared stories. A culture carried forward.
Come meet Chef Nhick and experience the flavors and stories behind his culinary journey. Join us for Filipino Chefs Night on Saturday, September 26 at Varmesentralen, Fornebu.
