I anledning deltakelsen i Høstutstillingen inviterer Tara Abdullah alle inn i studioet sitt, hvor hun vil vise nye arbeider som har blitt til under residensen hos Safemuse, og gi et innblikk i prosessen, tankene og kunsten som har vokst frem under oppholdet. Håper vi sees! ✨

Sondag 16. august er siste sjanse til å oppleve videoinstallasjonen til Safemuse sin residenskunstner Nguyen Thi Xuan Trang på Hvitsten Salong 2026.

- The Limbo reveals a haunting realm suspended between life and death, where survivors remain trapped in the relentless horrors of past war. Unable to return to normal life, they wander through a dazed, disorienting nightmare — though one must ask if they have ever truly fallen asleep.

This installation exposes the profound agony of severe psychological trauma, where the simple mercy of a peaceful, genuine rest remains agonizingly out of reach. In the end, it leaves us with a singular, gentle plea: please, give them a good night’s sleep, Trang.

Wake-up call by Tara Abdullah. «Let’s Not Sleep» is Tara’s new anti-war installation at Hvitsten Salong, on view until 16 August.

The installation examines the intimate and often overlooked consequences of conflict, shifting attention from the front lines to the domestic sphere. Rather than depicting war itself, Tara reveals how violence permeates everyday life, leaving lasting traces in homes, families, and collective memory.

The work reflects on the disproportionate impact of armed conflict, exposing the human cost of militarized political systems. Interweaving political and personal violence, it also confronts patriarchal power structures that murders women in the name of so-called "honor" – crimes that often take place in the very spaces meant to offer safety and care: their own beds.
