About Zouk (and Kizomba)

Zouk is a style of rhythmic music originating from Angola, the French Antilles and Cap Verde Islands, with a music close to slow Lambada. Zouk means 'party' in the local creole of French with English and African influences, all three of which contribute the sound. In Europe it is particularly popular in France, in Norway, we concentrate on the Zouklove or Brazilian zouk

dance variant. The Kizomba is a dance style born in Angola in the 80's following the influences of Semba and Zouk. Kizombalove is the dance developed, promoted and taught by José N'Dongola, danced on Kizomba music and contains a.o. In the UK and in particular in Portugal and its old colonies, Kizomba style dancing is more popular on this music. In many cases Zouk / Kizomba music is played on Salsa Parties, as an alternative to Bachata; 100% zouk parties in Norway, you can find on mondays at SalsaSite. The music we play here is good both for Zouk & Kizomba in an own as Bachat & Salsa is played in another. An excellent opportunity to exercise your latest moves. You can dance both styles almost on the same music although certain songs clearly favorize a particular style. For faster music Kizomba is easier to dance but you can of course also go for the Lamba-zouk variant or revolution-zouk style. You can even dance Kziomba on Reggaeton music (Kizombaton?)

How does Zouklove & Kizomba dancing looks like!? Shows look always different that how the dances look socially. But I am sure you will get an idea ;)

The season is changing and time to enjoy more social dancing, meet friends and also make new friends.

I Love Dancing is the first and longest existing Dance school of it's kind in Norway. We brought Brazilian Zouk to Norway in 2003 (along with Forró, Gafieira, etc). Our regular Zouk socials and classes has been going on since 2009, and since Summer 2016 we moved it to Wednesdays.
Our West Coast Swing Tuesdays has been around for quite some years, and WCS Sundays for 5,5 years.

We offer also social dances like Salsa, Bachata, Samba, Swing and more.

Dancing is not only our passion but also our life and living. Our focus is offering high quality instruction and events keeping our customers' needs in mind.

We believe honesty, INTEGRITY and business ethics are very important and serving our dance community according to those values are of the highest priority.

One example of that, we never set an event that collides with another event on the same dance style, at the same time and city, in order to not split the community and respect other fellow organisers :) There are 7 days in the week to be explored and enough space for our small dance communities to have each dance style offered every day of the week, while KEEPING THE COMMUNITY UNITED AND HAPPY, rather than splitting them in 2 or more competing events on the same hour. If it comes a time where a certain dance style is offered with social and classes all days in the week, only then it makes sense to open colliding events if there is a demand. Please support the initiative of honest organisers, so they will be there for you with more sustainable events.

Private lessons are a fast and focused way to progress in your dance skills :) Your learning process goes 10-30 times faster in one hour private class than in 1 hour group class! A private lesson is a “one-on-one” lesson (for a student, or a couple) with your own instructor where you will receive personalised attention, learning specifically what you want and need to work on, on your own pace. You can feel comfortable in asking questions & in receiving kind and motivating feedback from our experienced (20+ years each!) teachers.

Private lessons are beneficial for:

* Catching up on material for missed group class lessons
