So over the last three years I've secretly been learning Game Development, participating in game jams and learning through some great and some not that great online courses.

After completing 10ish smaller projects I've (still secretly) started on my own solo project that's a little bigger in scope.

More info about this is to come, but for now, here's me testing out different surface sounds when BART, the protagonist of this linear narrative puzzler, walks.

(And don't mind the violin floating in the air, I'll get to that shortly..!)

Alright, it's been a while, but here we are again. I'm Answering a question from a viewer today; how to get Kontakt multi-out to work in cubase. Pretty straightforward, but there's a little catch that I had forgotten myself, since you only need to do it once.

HEYHEY! New video out today, talking about this sort of stuff:

So as many of you guys and girls I own way too many synths and instruments which in and of themselves have lots of presets to sort through. I love presets as a creative starting point, but that's not the discussion I want to have today.
Today I want to talk about how to ORGANIZE these presets in a way that make sense.

And of course, different companies use different systems to sort your presets. I'm having a look at u-he's favorite system (8 different colors, one can be assigned per preset) and Spectrasonics' Omnisphere 5-star-ranking system. This also applies to Cubase's Mediabay and the same system can be applied to that as well.

I've never understood the point of a 5-star ranking system if one is using it in the traditional "0-star is bad" and "5-star is good", simply because I wouldn't want to use something that it "middle-of-the-road", or 3 stars, in a song I'm producing. For me it makes no sense!

So instead I treat the 5 stars just like I treat the u-he system, and that means all possibilities, 0 through 5 stars, all have meaning and you're not left with a vacuum where 1 star means trash and 5 stars means perfection and everything in between never gets used.

So here's MY system. In the video I explain where I'm coming from and why this works for me and my workflow, yours could and probably should be a little different. OR if you want to use the exact same thing, I won't stop you of course.

U-he favorites sorting:

Black = Bass
Brown = Leads
Organge = Arps
Red = Angry/Agressive
Purple = Tense/Spy/Horror
Dark Blue = Sad/Drama
Light Blue = Light/Shimmery
Green = Happy

My five-star rating sorting:
0 = Unsorted/Trash
1 = Bass
2 = Arp/Sequenced
3 = Drums
4 = Pads
5 = Leads

Here's a link to the video where I unpack this a little bit more and show some examples!
Thanks for reading! :D
