OSLO COMMUNITY THEATRE AT SCENEHUSET
On Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7, Oslo Community Theatre will visit Scenehuset with the performance EMMAS. Through fragmented memories and flashbacks, the story reveals a life shaped by pain, medical appointments, and dismissal, capturing the emotional and physical toll of living with undiagnosed endometriosis.
1. HOW ARE YOU PREPARING FOR THE PERFORMANCE?
We are preparing through movement-based rehearsals, character development, and ongoing refinement of the script. By centring physical storytelling, we are carefully shaping the journeys of the younger and older Emmas to authentically reflect the progression of her lived experience.
We are now in the final stages of refining the performance, testing lighting and sound to ensure the most immersive and impactful experience possible.
2. WHAT CAN THE AUDIENCE EXPECT TO SEE?
We hope the audience leaves with a deeper awareness of women’s health, the reality of undiagnosed illnesses, the impact of medical gaslighting, and what it means to live with endometriosis.
This play is vital for everyone, not only those directly affected as it encourages greater understanding and more compassionate support. By bringing these often-silenced experiences into the spotlight, we aim to foster open conversation, challenge stigma, and create space for empathy and recognition.
3. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SCENEHUSET FOR THIS PERFORMANCE?
Having previously worked at Scenehuset, we deeply value its intimate atmosphere. We believe this play is perfectly suited to the space, creating a unique and immersive experience for both the cast and the audience.
