Today, Norway mourns the loss of King Harald V.

A true king of the people whose warmth and lifelong dedication to our nation will never be forgotten. Our deepest condolences go out to the Royal Family.

​As we say a heartfelt goodbye, a new chapter begins. We are deeply grateful for the genuine interest our new monarch, King Haakon VIII, has already shown in our shared heritage. Seeing him aboard the Myklebust ship remains a proud milestone for Sagastad, and we look forward to his reign with great respect.

​Rest in peace, King Harald. Long live King Haakon.

📺 Sagastad and the Myklebust Ship on German TV! 🇳🇴

The NDR Ostseereport crew visited Nordfjord! In their latest episode, "The Nordfjord – Norway's Underrated Fjord," our rich Viking history truly comes to life.

From visiting master woodcarver Rolf Taraldset and exploring authentic boatbuilding with Jakob Helseth and Harald Kolseth, to an action-packed rowing trip on the Viking ship Ask in Davik and spectacular footage of the Myklebust ship sea launch—this documentary captures it all!

The Nordfjord region was recently highlighted in a fantastic episode of the popular German travel program Ostseereport on NDR. Today, we send our warmest birthday wishes to HRH Crown Prince Haakon! 🇳🇴

On this special day, we look back with immense pride and wonderful memories on His Royal Highness’s visit, when he and Prince Sverre Magnus stepped aboard, took to the oars, and became an active part of the crew on the world's largest Viking ship.

Little did we know that their impressive teamwork at the oars would foreshadow the summer's biggest global phenomenon! When the viral "Viking Row" chant took the FIFA World Cup by storm, Crown Prince Haakon proved his rowing credentials once again—striking the drum and leading the national football team and over 100,000 cheering fans in a massive synchronized row outside the Royal Palace in Oslo.

From powering a true Viking ship on the water to leading the celebration for our football heroes on dry land, His Royal Highness truly embodies the spirit and living maritime heritage of Norway. We thank him for his genuine enthusiasm and wish him a fantastic birthday celebration today!
