My favorite movie as a child was The Sound of Music. In the series of paintings created for Can Art Fair I have returned to my memories of the film and titled the works after lines from the songs that have remained with me after singing them over and over again throughout my childhood.
Returning to the Sound of Music as an adult I encounter it through new eyes. The idealized femininity, innocence and romantic narratives that captivated me as a child now are filtered through lived experience and reflection of a grown woman. Julie Andrews was among my earliest role models.

The series of paintings exists in the space between those childhood enchantments and my adult reflections on them.

I love working in large scale textile pieces. Surrounded by pink light and softness my nervous system thrives!
A small glimpse of and l working on The Florida Room a textile and sound installation, me telling y’all to be sustainable - like I alway am ….. not - but in this project we are a repurposing metarials, using natural pigments, and creating a mindful slow paced portal into a warm embrace and pulsating uterus room. #
