Here’s another one of my songs. Again the lyrics are mine but the voice and melody are currently generated by AI.
I have chosen to record this one first in my own voice and guitar.

I don’t want to explain too much the story behind the lyrics but needless to say, I sometimes can’t make my feelings known and it can affect my mental state.

So here’s my first song. My songs at the moment are a release for me, a way to express what I find difficult to convey in normal conversation. I’m not ashamed to say that over the last 20 years I’ve struggled with depression and still medicating for. This song is about my journey towards the light.

Happy New Year friends and followers. Well this is the year I’m going to push myself and use this very quiet page to get your help support and guidance.

I’m now 62 and although I know I can sing I’ve never been able to commit enough time to learning an instrument well. I have a knack of being able to write lyrics and want to sing more of my own songs.

Last year I turned to AI to help me speed the process up and provide me with a melody I can work with. I know some people don’t like AI but in fact, sixty percent of musicians are already using AI in their music—whether artwork, production, or mastering.

So my intention is to write my lyrics, use AI for my melody and then eventually replace AI with my own voice and instruments. (In my studio)

I will post my ideas here before I convert to my own voice and backing with guitar etc. please feel free to comment on these songs with constructive feedback.

Early start in the studio. Going to be going for a practice with the Nightwish tribute band tomorrow. If I’m going to make the grade I have to practice, all be it using backing tracks. Still fun.

“Lustuz Laþu Wōþuz Alu” is Nebala first full-length studio album and will be available as CD Digipack featuring an extensive 12-pages booklet as well as limited Black 2x12" vinyl in Gatefold.

The album invites the listeners to dive into Old Norse Mythology. Nebala in Proto-Germanic means “the void”; the void through which all life originates. Sexuality is the essence of all life form. Through this album Nebala initiates sexuality into a space of sacredness. The title “Lustuz Laþu Wōþuz Alu” alludes to 3 stages of sexuality, fertility and love:
Lustuz: The desire to merge with the other and the romantic idealism of young love.
Lathu: The dark side of sexuality, the strife of lovers, the unrequited love, the pain of broken hearts and frantic frustration of unreleased desire.
Woduz Alu: The ecstasy, the true merging of lovers that dissolves all objectivity and releases the cosmic creative force.

Using traditional frame drums, lyre, tagelharpa, Tibetan singing bowls, and throat singing, Jonas Lorentzen has developed a unique Indo-Nordic sound for Nebala that toys with timescapes, soundscapes, and cultural boundaries to bring you back to the primordial experience of music itself.

He comments on the album: “When you let yourself be taken by desire and lust, you will be consumed by what the ancient Germanic peoples called Laþu. The ancestor of our modern word “to let,” laþu suggests giving into natural desire and emotion. When Wōdan sought the deepest knowledge of the cosmos he had to brave the dangers of the deep caves in Hnitbjörg and let himself be taken by the desire of Gunlaþu, the forceful goddess of the underworld.”

"Laþu" is a hard pounding chant of the dark desires of the soul. It’s an eerie exploration into the depths of human depravity, however through darkness one must travel if one wants to come into the light. The track, like most of the album, is heavy on vocals and drums, yet the ancient Nordic Violin, the Tagal Harpa plays a vital part, with its Harpyesque screeching and haunting sound.

Can’t wait to see the video. Very proud to say the whole album was recorded here at Old Stables Studio. The video was filmed in Ukraine before the outbreak of war. The album is out this summer, it’s amazing 🙂

Director .amundsen.film and I worked on the concept for half a year, doing research into mythology, Jungian archetypes and more, for the development of the script.

In this period, director Robert Eggers was kind enough to give us some good advice, and of course the always helpful and knowledgeable gave us some awesome insights as well.
