Bergen Street Food
We have a new food hall in town, with 12 different food stalls of big variety, right across the road by Apollon. There should be something for everyone here! It's open every day during the festival, and on the Thursday and Friday from 12:00 - 14:00 we're doing Metal Hours. The top floor will be reserved for Beyond the Gates audience, and Painkiller Kim will DJ both days.

Kråken
An excellent Rock and Metal cocktail bar and pub, more or less next door to Kulturhuset i Bergen.

Gåsa
The Official Festival After Party is back to its previous location! The venue where Garage and Stereo used to be, is now Gåsa. This place should be well known to most of you who have been to the festival before. Painkiller Kim will DJ here every night during the festival from 00:00.

Apollon Platebar
Bar and record store going strong for 50 years now! There will be a couple of listening sessions at Apollon during the festival, which we will announce soon.

Antinoë (20:00)

From the mountains of Madrid comes Antinoë, the haunting one-woman project of pianist and vocalist Teresa Marraco. With her ethereal voice and stark, piano-driven arrangements, Antinoë shapes soundscapes where neoclassical elegance collides with the atmospheric weight of metal, weaving music that is at once fragile, immersive, and profoundly melancholic. Fans of artists like Agnes Obel or Enya will find resonance here, yet Antinoë’s world is darker, steeped in reflection, loss, and yearning.

Draken (21:10)

True Norwegian Hard Rock! Draken is a hard-hitting trio from Oslo, Norway. Musically, they are somewhere between heavy rock and metal. Formed in 2019 by Even Hermansen (guitars/vocals), Hallvard Gaardløs (bass/vocals), and André Drage (drums), the band delivers uncompromising rock rooted in the legacy of High on Fire, Motörhead, and Entombed.

Malum (22:20)

Raw, atmospheric and melodic black metal —with a sound rooted in the bleak traditions of the second wave of black metal and shaped by modern existentialism and nihilism. Malum delivers music that is both oppressive and cathartic and has carved a path through Norway’s underground with raw intensity and philosophical depth. Malum is not merely a band — it is a confrontation. With the self. With silence. With nothingness.

“Svart sirkel” (Eng.: Black Circle) is an award-winning podcast about the birth of Norwegian black metal. At Beyond the Gates 2026 the series continues, with an exclusive, one-off live show - in English! Expect stories, surprises and some very special guests.

🔥IN CONVERSATION: Pytten´s Unknown Past 🔥
Saturday, Aug 1st | 16:30 - 17:00

Before he took over as the proprietary sound technician at Grieghallen Studio in the late 1980s, and soon became the go to-guy for Norwegian Black Metal bands, Eirik "Pytten" Hundvin had already made a considerable impact on Norwegian music. In this session, Pytten will talk about his years as a bass player, his attempts to reach international rock stardom, his first touches with extreme metal and his thoughts on the links between Black Metal and other genres close to his heart. Focusing on the decade before his Grieghallen takeover, the 'in conversation' will be lead by Thomas Alkärr, author of the upcoming book "Pytten - The Man Behind The Black Bang. The Story of Eirik "Pytten" Hundvin, Grieghallen Studio and the Sound of Norwegian Black Metal" (Hærverk Forlag).

Here’s our official headbanging-friendly DJs for the festival this year;

🔥 Official After Party at Gåsa🔥
Back for another year, and one of the best, DJ Painkiller Kim will DJ at the official after party, every night from 00:00 during the festival at Gåsa. Gåsa is the new name and bar at the old location of Stereo and Garage, so those of you who have been to Beyond the Gates for some years now, should know the place well.

🔥 New this year: Metal Hours at Bergen Street Food🔥
Bergen Street Food is a new food court in town, with 12 food stalls and nice prices in the bar. The top floor is reserved for Beyond the Gates festival audience, and on Thursday and Friday we’re doing Metal Hours with Painkiller Kim DJing from 12:00 - 14:00.

🔥BEYOND THE GATES BY SAMOTH OF EMPEROR🔥

The mighty Emperor official will do a very special set featuring former members, Mortiis and Faust at Beyond the Gates 2026 - Chapter XIV. Emperor is - as everyone knows - one of the most influential acts to ever emerge from Norway, and has taken atmospheric black metal to heights no one ever would have dared dream of. We can’t wait to return to the roots with them when they hit the stage in the iconic Grieghallen!

🔥BEYOND THE GATES BY NERGAL AND D.G. OF MISÞYRMING🔥

Something unique to look forward to at Beyond the Gates 2026 - Chapter XIV, is BEHEMOTH!’s debut album «Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic)» performed in full by Adam Nergal Darski and Icelandic black metal band Misþyrming🔥 The premiere took place at SÁTAN Metal Festival earlier this summer, and we can’t wait to see these forces meet again on the stage in Bergen.

We took a quick chat with Nergal and front figure of Misþyrming, D.G., and here’s their band picks, thoughts on the project and some well deserved praise to our head of booking and festival co-owner Torgrim (remember to ask him for a lesson in inappropriate Polish if you see him at the festival).

🔥TICKET UPDATE🔥

Thank you for the support! The Gold Pass has been sold out for some time now, and we're currently running very low on the 4 Day Festival passes, as well as some other ticket categories. This is not the time to sit on the fence!

All of the guided tours of Grieghallen with Pytten are sold out, and so are most of the other tours. Since the feedback on these have been great, we've added some new dates for both the Fantoft tour and the Black Metal Landmarks tour.

About the tours:
🔥Fantoft Stave Church with Finn Håkon Rødland🔥
Finn Håkon Rødland will take you on a journey to Fantoft Stave Church, located just outside Bergen. After the historic church burned down in 1992, the cultural monument was rebuilt and today once again stands as one of the area’s most striking landmarks.

🔥Black Metal Landmarks with Tore Bratseth🔥
Join a guided trip to the ruins of Lysekloster Abbey, the backdrop for several legendary black metal photo and video shoots. You’ll also have the chance to visit the bunker where Euronymous was photographed for the De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas cover — and even glimpse the rehearsal space where The True Mayhem prepared before recording the seminal album. Your guide for the day: storyteller extraordinaire Tore Bratseth from Old Funeral.
