Dear artists,
We are seeking wall-based artworks for Kiosken Shop’s exhibition program during 2026.

About Kiosken Kiosken is an interdisciplinary space for art, craft, and design. Our exhibition room hosts a yearly program of curated exhibitions and residencies. Connected to this is Kiosken Shop—the first space visitors encounter as they enter.

The shop features one-of-a-kind objects by local and international artists and makers, carefully curated and presented through shifting configurations.

We see the shop as a more flexible and approachable part of our space with a more commercial outlook, and we’d like to give focus to one or two artists at a time. Each selection will be presented for approximately 6 weeks before transitioning to the next.

In 2026, we will host 4 to 6 exhibition cycles. We invite professional artists interested in presenting their work in this context to submit proposals and portfolios. The work presented will be for sale, and we will actively promote it as such.

Please note: We welcome applications from artists everywhere, but we are unable to cover shipping costs to and from our space in Bergen, Norway. Please take this into consideration before applying.

How to apply:
Send us your submission to [email protected] with the title: ART KIOSKEN SHOP

Deadline: 2nd of March at 1pm

You should include:

✔️CV and contact information
✔️Website, IG, and/or portfolio
✔️Artist bio and statement
✔️A proposal of what you would like to show (Max one A4)

Our curatorial team will review all submissions and select artists for the program.

We look forward to seeing your work!!

Documentation from ’s exhibition, Soft Split / Mjuk Split

Aasdal’s use of materials reflects a thoughtful, sensitive relationship with the land, memory, and the seasons. Her practice begins with the act of harvest, and the finished works in Soft Split / Mjuk Split seek to honour the beauty and storytelling capacity of her materials.

We also had the privilege of hosting a workshop in conjunction with the opening, where participants learned about the harvesting and processing of linden bast.

This exhibition is supported by Bergen Kommune, Vestland Fylkeskommune and Kulturrådet, and is a part of Kiosken’s focus on Hardanger-based artists and artisans for 2026.

Thulesius Works

We warmly welcome 2026 with Hege Iren Aasdal’s exhibition SOFT SPLIT / MJUK SPLIT

Dates: 17 January - 15 February
Opening: 17 Jan at 12:00
Free Workshop: 17 Jan, 14:00-16:00

Hege Iren Aasdal is one of few in Norway with a journeyman’s certificate as a basket maker specialising in split materials. Her practice begins not with the basket, but with the act of harvest – a temporal negotiation between maker, material, and landscape.

Each stick collected is a connection to history, to those who walked the same paths before her. It’s about following the seasons, knowing when the time is right, harvesting with thought not only for one basket, but for all those to come.

«The harvesting and processing of materials is my most important task and forms the foundation for everything I do. This connection that materials create between me, the cultural landscape and history is what I wish to convey.»

The exhibition includes the film «Mjuke røtter / Soft Roots» by filmmaker Silje Ensby. The film is part of a long term collaboration with Hege Iren Aasdal.

WORKSHOP:

Traditional Linden Bast

Learn about harvesting and processing linden bast – the layer between bark and wood. Historically used for rope, thread, and weaving, this strong, supple material has a beautiful golden color. Explore traditional Norwegian craft knowledge hands-on.

Aasdal was a scholarship recipient at the Norwegian Institute of Crafts (2020-2023) and received the state artist’s grant as a folk artist (2025-2026).

Supported by Bergen Kommune, Vestland Municipality and Kulturrådet. This exhibition is part of KIOSKEN’s 2026 focus on Hardanger-based artists and artisans.

Artist Spotlight: Astrid Drageset & Trude Berg

ASTRID DRAGESET

Drageset’s artistic practice emerges from a fascination with stillness, nature, rhythm, and geometry. She works primarily in egg tempera on linen canvas, often combined with paper or printed woodcuts. Her images are built up in many thin layers, allowing earlier layers to remain partially visible, creating vibration and a subtle interplay between the painted, the paper, and the graphic elements. Through this layer-by-layer process, she explores the relationship between form, line, and surface, and between the soft and the structured. In her work, Drageset seeks a state of calm and reflection, a visual breathing space where the viewer can find their own inner landscape.

TRUDE BERG

Berg’s ceramic objects often reference architectural elements, supporting structures and rebar, but the works also explore the complexity of the human being and our interactions. She is concerned with what is often overlooked or considered insignificant and worthless, and with the apparent hierarchical relationships between the emotional and the logical, and between the solid and the fragile.

Works by both artists are available for sale as a part of Kiosken’s winter market, open until 21st December.
