Nordic Night is this weekend✨️

On Saturday, concerts presented by Wardruna at Grefsenkollen in Oslo. Performances of Wardruna, Mari Boine, Sara Parkman, Ævestaden and Gåte — each carrying tradition into the present in their own unique way. Drawing from deep roots in Nordic folk music, they reshape traditional sounds and expressions.

And on Sunday, By Norse presents different workshops hosted by Wardruna at Riksscenen.The workshops are ticketed and sold out. The day will be concluded by a signing session that is open for everyone to attend, also if you do not have a ticket to the workshops.

Kalandra are heading out on a Norwegian tour this autumn with their winter EP “Mørketid”, which the band released in the winter of 2025. The band will perform a very special set on the “Mørketid Tour”, with songs that warm and bring light as we enter the dark and cold winter season.

The band comments: “Today we’re announcing the Mørketid tour of Norway! It’s been a while since we’ve done a tour of Norway, and we’re really looking forward to meeting people all over the country. It feels extra special that we’re finally going to play in Bodø for the very first time, and that we’ll soon be returning to Kristiansand, almost ten years after our last visit. At the same time, we’re looking forward to returning to venues such as Kulturhuset in Bergen, SALT in Oslo and HAVET in Trondheim, where we have fond memories of previous concerts.

Mørketid is about bringing people together during the darkest time of the year and creating warmth, closeness and a sense of community through music. We look forward to sharing these evenings with both old and new listeners.”

I am overwhelmed by -and so thankful for the patience and kindness from you all when I needed to pull back and reset. I am slowly working my way back up again, using this spring and summer to recover and prepare, so now I almost can’t wait to release the album Nannámii and go on a tour this autumn and winter, finally! 💛 As you can see, the Oslo-concert unfortunately had to be moved from the opera as they are fully booked this autumn (lots of good stuff in their program though, so be sure to visit them for another experience), and in 2027 they are closed for renovation. But I’ll see you at Parkteatret, Oslo! In addition to this I will be playing two festivals this summer: Márkomeannu in July and Alperocken in August. Where do we meet?

Read the interview with Einar and Ivar about By Norse in Ballade
(in Norwegian). Einar Selvik says:

"Our focus at By Norse has never been specifically on traditional music, but rather on music that in one way or another carries elements of tradition or folk music, cultural history, nature, and so on — brought into a new format, regardless of what label the given project may have (...) So the common denominator is that the musical projects all operate within very different musical expressions, all of which are also deeply rooted in the contemporary."
