Zamila Orientalske Danseforening Zamila Oriental Dance Society was founded in 1999 and is Bergen's local raqs sharqi society. We are a non-profit organisation run by volunteers.

Zamila Oriental Dance Society was founded in 1999 and is Bergen’s local Middle Easten dance society. Our aim is to increase awareness of Middle Eastern dance, music, and culture, and to promote participation in Middle Eastern dance in the local community. We also aim to support the Bergen dance community through arranging performance opportunities for dancers of all levels, workshops with well kn

own instructors, and social activities. In addition, we rent studio spaces for self-directed dance practice. Oriental dance, or "raqs sharqi" (Dance from the East), has its roots in social dances and folk dances from throughout the Near and Middle East, including Turkey and North-Africa. The dance form has become popular across the world, both as a performance art and as a hobby. Raqs sharqi also has many enthusiastic followers in Norway and along the West-coast of the country. Zamila is here for everyone who shares a love and enthusiasm for this beautiful and expressive dance form! Are you interested in dance, culture, and music from the Middle East? For only 100 NOK per year you can become a member of Zamila. Membership gives you discounted workshops, regular updates about dance events in Bergen and surrounding areas, and regular access to a rehearsal space. Tytti Tuohino Vinje er en kreativ dame og styremedlem i Zamila. Hun stilte ut kunsten sin på Galleri 52, og opptrådte også med magedans. Skikkelig koselig arrangement!
