APPLY FOR A WINTER RESIDENCY BEFORE SEPTEMBER 1ST!

This is a grateful and friendly reminder of the open call for Rangøya and also and adjustment in the announced periods (with March replacing January). All other info and links are unchanged:

Rangøya International Cultural Centre is pleased to offer the opportunity to apply for a free stay on Rangøya island in Averøy, Norway. This call is for stays in late 2026 and early 2027, specifically November, December, February and March. The residency is primarily for writers and translators, but interdisciplinary cooperation is encouraged.

The main condition is that at least two writers/artist from different countries need to apply for a stay together. Two to four persons may apply together. Applicants with a Nordic/Baltic connection may be prioritised. Norwegians are also encouraged to participate.

With support from Arts Council Norway (The Norwegian Cultural Fund), Sparebankstiftelsen Nordvest and Møre og Romsdal County, we are currently able to offer a period of free residencies at the Norwegian coast.

Creating a meeting place between nations, the residency requires two nationalities two apply together. The current open call for residency applications (Winter 2026/2027) is for stays in November or December 2026 and January and February 2027.

Kunstnaren Kadri Roosi er på Rangøya denne veka. Ho har teikna heile livet, og ein av dei viktige inspirasjonskjeldene var teikneklubben til dyrehagen i Tallinn.

No kjem dyrehagen til oss: Fram til måndag er det popup-ustilling på naustveggen ved kultursenteret.

Og i kveld klokka 19 blir dei ei uformell lita opning av den utstillinga. Så vel møtt dit – så får du møte henne før opning på Bruhagen måndag.

Dette er Leonard Schwartz frå USA og Taylor Strickland frå Skottland (og USA) saman med Merete frå biblioteket og meg frå Rangøya internasjonale kultursenter.

Leonard og Taylor er maipoetane på Rangøya internasjonale kultursenter og er her for å skrive og bli inspiret. Leonard er frå New York, er anerkjent poet, underviser i kreativ skriving både i New York og Olympia ved Stillehavskysten – og leidde i mange år radioprogrammet Cross Cultural Poetics. Taylor er opphaveleg frå Florida, men har gjort skotte av seg, arbeider i tillegg til eigen poesi med gjendikting frå gælisk – og har vunne ein av Skottlands prestisjetunge bokprisar.

Og *du* kan møte dei, anten tysdag 26.05 kl 19 i Ålesund (Kulturscenen Fabrikken) eller 27.05 kl 19 på Averøya (Kommunestyresalen på Bruhagen).
