Op 3 februari is onze mooie, lieve zoon geboren. Joost en ik maakten samen zijn geboortekaartje. Met een linodruk van Joost en planten schildering van mij werd dit landschap geboren. Met alle hoop op een mooie wereld voor onze zoon. ☀️

I'm happy to show you the first of a series of ten new terrace drawings I made this year. It's a collection of cafes and terraces in Zutphen. A beautiful old town along the river IJssel. This commission came from a store located in the centre of Zutphen.
They will be selling the drawings as a set of postcards in their store. Many thanks to "De Mooie kamer" and all the businesses involved in this project! ☀️💚

A new commission that I have been working on for over half a year. It took me some time to get a good grip on what I wanted to do with this painting. The house is in a beautiful place with a wonderful garden and I wanted to show every little part of that. The process of finding the balance in the colors and the textures was fun and challenging at the same time. The owner of the house asked me to make this painting of his house, which he built himself, after leaving it for a smaller place. He has lived there for decades, and the house is of course connected to a lot of memories. I hope this painting will keep them alive :)

Leaves and light coming together are among my favorite subjects to draw and paint. I am back at art residency Dar Slimane in Marrakech for the third time. I keep coming back here because the garden is such a wonderful place to work, the people are so lovely and inspiration seems endless here.

A little overview of 2024 for Studio Zomaar Zon. A year that brought me a lot of fun art education projects. Doing workshops for "Kinderboekenweek". Getting to work with two schools on a weekly basis, which makes working with the kids extra fun. And a really fun collaboration with who asked me to create a workshop based on their new theatreproduction "Huh!?!". I started my year with new inspiration and with meeting great artists at the art residency .haat in India. This gave me so much energy for new experiments and new techniques with watercolor that have really influenced the work I made this year.

Only 49 more days till Christmas! The time to get your Christmas cards is now 🤩 Especially on a day like this, I know I could use some extra cheeriness. This year I painted a series of five happy Christmas birds. Each with their own piece of Christmas spirit and atmosphere. Each set contains 10 cards, 2 of every design. And kraft envelopes are included. The cards are printed on Freelife Kendo paper by .nl . They do a great job with making the whole printing process environment friendly 💚
