Meet the masters of the International Baroque Festival Zutphen:
🎶 Lucia Swarts, baroque cello
Lucia Swarts is a professor historical and modern cello at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague since 1988, where she works with Elena Malinova. She is a visiting professor at the Conservatoire Superior de Salamanca and Sevilla (Spain).
Since 1983, Lucia has been principal cellist in the baroque orchestra of the Netherlands Bach Society, she also plays in the Residentie Bach Ensemble and the Tulipa Consort. She worked with baroque specialists as Gustav Leonhardt, Frans Brüggen, Sigiswald Kuijken, René Jacobs, Jos van Veldhoven and Ton Koopman.
🎶 Maggie Urquhart, violone
Margaret Urquhart is the first bassist of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, of which she has been a member since 1986. She teaches violone at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and the Amsterdam Conservatory, and has given violone master-classes in China, the USA, and across Europe.
🎶 Susanne Braumann, viola da gamba, lirone, gamba consort
Susanne Braumann studied viola da gamba with Wolfgang Eggers at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, with Hannelore Mueller at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, and with Wieland Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. She has performed in Europe, Cuba, Canada, and the United States, and has played under conductors such as August Wenzinger, Ton Koopman, Jos van Immerseel, Paul van Nevel, Stefan Gottfried, and Ed Spanjaard.
