Sometimes the magic of a recording isn’t in a single perfect take, but in carefully combining the best moments.
For this vocal I created a comp from multiple takes: a few recorded at home and several from last Friday’s studio session. By listening closely to feel, timing, and tone, those pieces come together as one natural, seamless performance.
After that comes the subtle work:
a bit of timing refinement, light pitch correction where needed, gentle compression, and a touch of space so the vocal stays intimate while still breathing in the mix.
One of the best compliments a singer can give is:
"I can’t tell anymore which take was recorded where."
That’s when you know everything has become one coherent performance.
