CLOUDS, CURVES AND COAST. ☁️❤️
A different perspective of our spectacular North Queensland coastline, captured from just above the cloud level.
With scattered clouds drifting across the landscape, these aerial views reveal the coastline, waterways and landforms in a unique way, adding depth and an interesting dimension to the images.

AUSTRALIA FROM ABOVE:
What you see in my images was there from the sky. I’m just revealing it !
Something I’m often asked about my aerial photography is how much editing goes into my images.
The answer may surprise you — I don’t use AI and Photoshop. I edit all my images in Camera Raw.

For me, it’s about keeping the photograph true to what I captured from the air. I use Camera Raw to adjust exposure, colour, contrast, highlights, shadows and detail — essentially bringing out what I saw and felt when I took the photograph.

AI and Photoshop can go much further, allowing photographers to add, remove or combine elements and significantly alter an image.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that — it’s simply not how I choose to create my aerial photography. PS, click to see full size image 😍

Ever wondered how an award-winning aerial photograph comes together?

These three images show the process — starting with a distant view through the plane window as we approach the scene, then circling above it at a lower height to find the right perspective, before moving directly above for the wider view, and finally the image that caught the judges’ attention

It’s all about perspective, timing and seeing something in the landscape .
The final image is the one that tells the story 🥰

Nature’s own patterns along the North Queensland coast. The tides, sand and water create the most incredible natural shapes and textures, ( no human intervention) turning an ordinary stretch of beach into a natural work of art.

BLINK AND YOU WILL MISS IT !!!
Snapping shots while flying at high speed leaves zero room for error—just pure instinct and split-second timing. Thrilled that two of these unplanned mid-air moments just took home honors at the prestigious PX3 (Prix de la Photographie Paris 2026)! 🇫🇷✨
🥉 Arboreal Echo – Bronze Award
🎖️ Gilded Feathers – Honorable Mention
Fast flight, faster shutter. Proof that sometimes the spontaneous, fraction-of-a-second shots are the strongest! ✈️📸

Congratulations to all the winners at the Px3 Paris Photography Prize, and thank you to the incredible line up of judges 🙏.

A different view of the coast…… 😃
From above, the shoreline can look almost surreal — strange shapes, colours, patterns and little details you would never notice from the ground.
I love finding these unexpected moments in the landscape.

Another little glimpse of the Australian coast from above.
A few campers along the beach, people enjoying the water, and tiny colourful islands scattered through that beautiful aqua blue.
It’s these little patterns and details that I love finding from the air.
