Points of Light illuminates Grote Kerk The Hague
On Thursday 15 January, Points of Light launches at Grote Kerk The Hague. This light-art project transforms the monumental church into an abstract composition of light and sound, placing the architecture at the heart of the experience.
A magical atmosphere for everyone
Folkert Blaauw, Director of Grote Kerk:
“With Points of Light, Grote Kerk becomes an entirely new experience. Light and soundscapes reveal the architecture in a way you’ve never experienced before, and the projections create a magical atmosphere. The show is free to attend, because we want everyone to be able to discover the church in this light.”
Light-pulse technology
Points of Light uses a LiDAR 3D scan: a technique that employs light pulses to create highly accurate three-dimensional models. This data forms the basis for projections that reveal the vaults and structures of the high choir in rhythmic patterns of light, combined with specially developed soundscapes.
From dark to light
Visitors are invited to slow down and experience the space in a new way. The project shows how a historic monument can shift from dark to light, offering a fresh perspective on one of The Hague’s oldest and most iconic buildings.
Dates & times
Points of Light can be seen on 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 29, 30 and 31 January, daily from 17:00 until around 21:00. The projection runs in a 15-minute loop and is free to attend.
Points of Light is an initiative by LiGHT-UP Collective (Jan Willem Campmans, Jaco Schilp, Sem Schreuder and Merijn Meijers), in collaboration with Epson, Clayton Fredrik on behalf of The Greanery, and Grote Kerk The Hague.
