Buildup starts at 19:00.

We start playing around 20:00 – 20:30.

We do generally not use the stage. Half a circle of tables is set up on the floor. If you arrive at 19:00 you can claim a spot and have roughly 1 – 1,5 hour to setup and mingle and be there for your line check. Everyone who shows up at 19:00 gets 10 minutes to play. All forms of Electronic experiments and all genres are welcome. This is the place to be if have been planning to try out your DIY solder experiments, give your sampler a try, Make clever poetry with a looper pedal and some field recordings, wanted to use your synthesiser for a crowd, like to make some harsh noise walls, want to live code visuals on your laptop or are a DIY instrument enthusiast in general. Go wild.

Note if you are an electric guitar player and you don’t have a need for a table then this event is probably not for you.
This is a night for people who want to use their guitar as a midi controller, let it be played by circuitbent roomba, push it trough a modular synth or mangle it in an other way past any form of recognition.

Practical stuff:
We have DI’s, a projector with an HDMI cable, tables to put your gear on, microphone stands, microphones lights and a PA system .
Our assumption is that everyone has a single mono or stereo output.

With their energetic live shows, they’ve previously played the aftershow for Khruangbin at AFAS Live and delivered a sold-out album release show at the Effenaar. A year after the release of their third album “Someday,” Whiff returns with new material. During their show at ACU, they will perform their new punk-funk live for the very first time. Get ready to hit the gas with the danceable, fuzzy guitar music of Whiff!

The debut show of Alternative Comedy Utrecht! (or ACU for short)

An off-beat comedy night. Free entry!

In the first half, the comedians get to do whatever they want. This can be stand-up, clowning, or whatever.
In the second half, the comedians will be subjected to the whims of Professor Gameshow. Think Taskmaster meets
improv hosted by a pervert.

Marina Orsag //

A true pioneer of European stand-up, Marina Orsag has been performing for over 20 years and has
clocked up more than 3,500 shows across Europe. Award-winning, fearless and full of heart, she helped
build the stand-up scene in Croatia from the ground up. Expect powerful stage presence, infectious
energy and big laughs that stay with you long after the show ends.

Kristina Jak // .art

There’s a vitality, a life force, an energy, and then there’s Kristina.
Coming from Finnish forests, her performances make the less socially skilled among us feel seen and
heard, while leaving the rest pondering.

Davey Jay //

Davey Jay is a high-energy stand-up comedian and a regular at Comedyhuis Utrecht. With razor-sharp
jokes and an infectious stage presence, he takes audiences on a ride through the chaos of his life. His
dark humor and sudden twists hit hard, but are smoothed out by a healthy dose of charm.
Davey playfully lures his audience into letting go of labels, embracing the idea that exceptions are the
rule, and discovering connections in the very things that make us different.

Charnel Ground presents: A Crude Transmissions Fundraiser
On the 10th of Charnel Ground returns to ACU in Utrecht for an evening of noise, heavy electronics and drone with:
The [Law-Rah] Collective:
The [law-rah] collective is a (mostly) utrecht-based collective of artists led by Bauke van der Wal. They work with words, sounds, rhythm, structure, chaos and anything they can get their hands on.
In the field of electronic music active since 2001, but the first seeds were planted in 1993.
Kamloops:
Steffan de Turck mainly works with field recordings from different origins which are edited, layered and processed into sound collages. Since the early 2000s he has been creating, performing and releasing music under the monikers of staplerfahrer and Kamloops.
Geseling:
Focused and densely textured harsh noise combining scrap metal, field recordings, feedback and electromagnetic interference.
Thom Floris:
Thom Floris is a sound artist and part of Enschede’s Black Brick collective. His process mainly involves sampling memetic tropes and utilizing further DSP (Digital Signal Processing) in order to create blithering and frantic compositions
Uitgeschakeld:
Highly focused and harsh textures by Utrecht’s own Casper van der Veen (Radical Vitality).
All funds raised will go directly towards Crude Transmissions, Netherlands anual noise gathering in Leiden.
