There is a subtle difference between technological failure that puts the machine completely out of order, and a kind of failure that causes a malfunction only briefly. GLITCHBITCH embraces these imperfections. Within her system, consisting of a cd player and the audio programming language SuperCollider, she seeks for digital disruption. This performance is an invitation to step inside an electronic otherworld, and listen to the sounds of a digital ecosystem.

* When did you fall in love with electronic music for the first time?
I fell in love dancing in front of the sound systems in Gent! I fell in love in the basement of an old factory, filled with smoke, red lasers and energy. Feeling the vibrations of a dub record shaking a whole building, and slowly becoming part of a single moving mass. And on a church square, where the buzzing of the city almost overtakes the music.
* What do you strive for, if anything, in your performances?
By performing you create space for a collective experience. We enter, and for a moment we are immersed in an alternative actuality together. Within my performance I raise the question: ‘what is the nature of the digital?’. I invite you to come inside and hopefully, within the sounds, you discover a possible answer that you take along also outside of this space. So, through this experience we can shape a new reality.
* Imagine your music was made for animals, which animals would that be?
Something I like to imagine is that my music is a subcomponent inside an ecosystem. So besides all kinds of animals, the trees, water or sand will be included as well! Being part of an ecosystem also implies that energy flows cyclical. Inspired by this, I am working on an interaction between my system and me that is more mutual and non-hierarchical.
* Who would be a dream to perform with? Why?
Can you guess? Probably some non-human entity…
