Throwback to the "SANKOFA" VR Experience

Some time ago, we journeyed through time and space with the Vreden siblings (Geraldvreden ) in the immersive world of "SANKOFA." It was a successful exploration of Bagadune's ancient mysteries, promoting empowerment and hope. 🌟

Reflecting on our dive into hidden perspectives from the "HIS STORY OF THE WORLD, L'HISTOIRE DU MONDE" book by . Together, we learned valuable lessons from the past to shape a brighter tomorrow. 📚

Now, we celebrate the success of this prototype showcase. Your feedback has been invaluable in evolving this unique VR experience. Thank you for being part of this journey! 🌱

Wei and Howard are researching the limits of reality and VR. This prototype is a two-person Virtual Reality Experience in which you interact with physical objects, virtual objects and each other. In a Virtual Space a story of meaningful objects is told.

New media artist Huang Wei-Hsuan () will develop a virtual reality experience, an interactive project for two people. Two individuals wearing HMD (Virtual Reality glasses), in the same layout of two worlds. These two people are both audience and performer. They observe the virtual world from different angles and physically meet in a parallel universe.

Nieuwe media kunstenaar Huang Wei-Hsuan gaat in het innovatielab een Virtual Reality experience ontwikkelen, een interactief project voor twee personen. Twee individuen met een HMD (Virtual Reality bril) op, in dezelfde lay-out van twee werelden. Deze twee mensen zijn zowel publiek als performer. Ze observeren de virtuele wereld vanuit verschillende hoeken en ontmoeten elkaar fysiek in een parallel universum.

Theater maker, visual artist & performer Lieke van der Vegt () & physicist / media technologist Dan Xu () both investigate the interaction between performers and people through sound. They will continue to work on their concept together. Lieke focusses on the human body as a conductor for electricity and sound, and the impact of physical touch what this brings about. Dan's idea is about interacting with someone at a distance through sound, light, movement and other responsive media in a mixed reality performance and a series of workshops.

Theatermaker, beeldend kunstenaar & perfomer Lieke van der Vegt en fysicus / media technoloog Dan Xu gaan samen bij Innovation:Lab de interactie tussen performers en mensen door middel van geluid onderzoeken. Lieke focust zich op het menselijk lichaam als geleider voor stroom en geluid. Daarbij gaat het om de impact van fysieke aanraking door het publiek van een performer en wat dat bij de bezoeker teweegbrengt. Dan’s idee gaat over de interactie met iemand op afstand door middel van geluid, licht, beweging en andere responsieve media in een mixed reality performance en een serie workshops.

Voordat we aan de slag gaan met de geselecteerde makers en hun concepten, doet Innovation:Lab onderzoek voor een toekomstig project van Theater Utrecht met gelaagde projecties.

Theater Utrecht's Innovation:Lab has officially kicked off with the selection of our first makers! After an exciting first round of pitches, seven concepts were selected that will be further developed in the lab.

The selected makers are Lieke van der Vegt & Dan Xu, Marlot Meyer, Joeri Heegstra & Samir Veen & Claire Bender, Mette Sterre, Salim Bayri, Dwayne Toemere & Florian Jankowski, and Huang Wei-Hsuan. They will be developing concepts in the areas of motion capture with costumes and the abscence of performers on stage, interactive spaces as living organisms, games as theatre vehicles, interaction between performance and audience by means of sound, artificial intelligence tools in theater, and theatre through augmented reality and virtual reality.

We’ll be introducing our makers and their concepts one by one over the coming days!

Innovation:Lab van Theater Utrecht is officieel gestart nu de eerste makers bekend zijn! Na een spannende selectieprocedure zijn 7 concepten geselecteerd die door de makers zullen worden ontwikkeld in het lab.

De geselecteerde makers zijn Lieke van der Vegt & Dan Xu, Marlot Meyer, Joeri Heegstra & Samir Veen & Claire Bender, Mette Sterre, Salim Bayri, Dwayne Toemere & Florian Jankowski, Huang Wei-Hsuan. Zij gaan concepten uitwerken op het gebied van motion capture met kostuums en de afwezigheid van performers op het podium, interactieve ruimtes als een levend organisme, games als theatervehikel, de interactie tussen performers en publiek door middel van geluid, artificial intelligence tools in het theater, theater via augmented reality en Virtual Reality.

De komende tijd zullen we de makers en hun concepten één voor één introduceren!
