Terwijl we zoeken naar een nieuwe thuisbasis voor Ecstatic Dance Universe, kan je aanstaande donderdag (30 maart) vlakbij Utrecht dansen in het groene Driebergen. Op een mooie locatie in een oud pand dansen we. Sefrijn draait een set bij Ecstatic Dance Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Kom je ook?

Ecstatic Dance Universe has to move due to noise issues with neighbours. We have to say goodbye to our beautiful space 😢

This means last Sunday was our last dance in our location at DCU. For sure we will continue! But... I don't know where yet. So hey tribe! You wanna help?

We are looking for a new home for our dancing tribe in Utrecht.

A music venue, a theater, big dance studio or another big and nice location. Even better if the people owning/renting it are open to or connected with Ecstatic Dance and/or meditation. Any ideas or leads to people or places are welcome in a PM or comment.

will play a set for us this Sunday! Sefrijn is a musician, meditator, multidisciplinary artist and entrepreneur based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The past 6 years his focus has been Ecstatic Dance, catalysing this growing movement by playing at countless locations. DJ sets are always created in the moment, his music is carefully selected to offer diversity in genres, emotions and speed.

Sefrijn is known for embodying the music behind the decks, dancing along and attuning to the people. As a classically trained pianist he combines technical musical knowledge with a deep love for intuitive improvisation. Expect world music mixed with electronics. Tribal infused percussion, b***y shaking beats, shamanic sounds drawing you deeper into the dance, soft ambient, playful acoustic or meditative esoteric sounds.

Sunday evening our team will welcome you in this space. This photo was taken by daylight. During the evening we add atmospheric lights. Every dance of Ecstatic Dance new people keep finding this place, taking the courage to join. The good thing about Ecstatic Dance is you don’t need any experience. Just a body, moving exactly as you wish. The music and the ceremony invite you, but you are always free to dance however it comes up for you. This can be alone, or if it’s your flow, together with one, two or more people.

Sunday evening we dance again! About our DJ, Anica:

"Ecstatic Dance to Anica is a wonderful tool to come closer to oneself. It allows to discover the power and movement in the body, but also the stillness, both in body and mind, and to explore the many nuances of joy, sadness, and other emotions of the heart. For many years of her life, Anica has travelled, intrigued by what this globalized world is about, to understand different landscapes, the colorfulness of culture, and the reason for so much inequality.

The most fascinating to her however is what makes all of us humans equal: the ability to move and to feel onto the sound of music. Whether that is in a Berlin nightclub, a Ghanaian funeral, a Caribbean beach, the Ethiopian mountains, a Hungarian wedding. During her sets, Anica weaves those influences into colorful sets, that celebrate diversity, and that honor what unites us all: our journey through this world, on the dance floor, towards ourselves."

WE DANCE TONIGHT 💛

Lieve dansers,

De verwarming op onze locatie (DCU) is vanochtend stuk gegaan. Dit betekent dat het vanavond ca. 14-15 graden zal zijn als we beginnen.
Tijdens de avond staat er nooit verwarming aan, omdat we met onze lichamen al heel veel warmte produceren. Maar het zal dus wat kouder zijn dan normaal als we beginnen.

Dus:
Neem een lekker warme dikke trui mere voor tijdens de inloop en ceremonie.

We dansen onze dans, samen met de elementen en ons innerlijke vuur. Wees welkom!

Dear dancers,

The heating at our location (DCU) brok down this morning. This means it will be around 14-15 degrees celsius when we start.
During the night we normally never put on heating, because our bodies produce a lot of heat as a group. But when we start it will be a bit colder than usual.

So:
Bring your cozy warm sweater or scarf for during the walkin and ceremony.

We will still dance, and are looking forward to welcome you!

Petro Van de Pas has been in the Ecstatic bubble for a long time, being the founder of one of the first Dutch Ecstatic Dances in Rotterdam.
Petro is a sensitive sincere human being, combining very different styles. He has an exceptional feeling for groove and rhythm, loves exuberant dance explosions, but can also be very subdued and soft in the musical flow and responds to the dancers and the needs on the dance floor.
He likes to bring along his djembé, darbuka, electronic percussion and shakers to add extra melody or rhythms to his set or to end meditatively with the handpan.

👉 CEREMONY - Araliya 👈
Araliya experienced her first Ecstatic dance edition at Club lite in Amsterdam. It used to be a weekly practice for her to dance and to move from the mind into the body. After finishing the dance academy she lost the joy in dancing and stopped dancing for a very long time.. She went into yoga, meditation and travelled a lot. After an experience of Ecstatic dance she felt a new sense of movement and joy which came from her inner experience. She explored new ways of moving with her body through a variety of music. Started to get to know the community and how to move on her own and at the same time with other dancers. All in a free, honest and flowing way led by inner direction.

During the first ceremony of this year on Sunday she will guide you deeper into your own field and frequency. To experience how important it is to always find your own flow first as an intro to dance. Get in touch with yourself and the intention of the dance. What wants to be danced, and how can you serve yourself the best before you connect with other lovely dancers.

Sunday we dance again! No words, just letting the body speak. Meditation in movement. Creative expression. With Sefrijn & Judith creating a new journey. It is the last dance of 2022 at ED Universe. Our beloved team and the space will welcome you all.

This Ecstatic Dance is open to people will all levels of experience. First timer or veteran. Ceremony is usually in English, sometimes in Dutch.
