Are you a circus-, dance and/or (musical)theatre maker who is at the start or at a turning point in your artistic career ánd do you have verifiable connections to the city of Tilburg and are you searching for a place to get to work on your artistic research, experiment or artistic development?

Makershuis Tilburg is open to everyone: to both makers who have graduated from Fontys Academy of the Arts (.academyofthearts), makers who studied at other academies for Applied art Education or self-educated artists.

Via the link below you can apply for a trajectory in the period of SEP-DEC 2026. Applying is possible until 22nd MARCH 2026 at the latest.

As a maker you can find a place at Makershuis Tilburg to join at least óne of the partners to get to work on your development and research question. The Makers trajectories give you the opportunity to take a deeper dive into a research or experiment for the course of 2 to 3 weeks, spread over a maximum period of half a year. Once you have started your Makers trajectory at Makershuis Tilburg, you will immediately be part of the ever growing Makershuis-community. De opkomst van generatieve AI gaat, zoals elke technologische verandering, gepaard met angst. Wij geloven dat performance, als medium van lichamelijke aanwezigheid, het perfecte podium is om dit angst perspectief te veranderen. Performance gaat namelijk altijd hand in hand met verbeelding. In staat van verbeelding is alles mogelijk.

Maar wat als AI erin slaagt om het publiek te emotioneren, zonder angst aan te wakkeren?

Wat als je mee kan varen op de emotie van een machine?

Met onze plug en play AI acteur ‘T.O.M.M.Y.” starten wij dit gesprek. In een interactieve theatrale installatie neemt collectief Wraeth jou mee in een humane - non menselijke interactie met een nieuwe tool van het theater van de toekomst.

WAT HEBBEN WE GELACHEN is een tragikomische r***e over de waarde van de artiest in een perfect technologische wereld waarin dystopische spreekkoren worden afgewisseld met onbevreesde koorzang. Een absurde aaneenschakeling van acts die soms de vorm aanneemt van een clownsoptreden, maar steeds meer op een koortsdroom begint te lijken. We zien de clowns in een wanhopige poging te vechten voor hun bestaansrecht. Maar tegen wie of wat vechten ze eigenlijk?

A clock is ticking. An ever-changing to-do list hangs on a clothesline. Time runs forwards and backwards. What did we just do?

Days seem too short, your schedule too full. But life is more than planning, right?
With stories, physical theater and dance, three performers argue for a softer view on time. Not to the second. Not with a schedule. But with a humorous mix of remembering, reversing, looking forward and déjà vu.

'𝘼 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 '𝘾𝙞𝙧𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙦𝙪𝙚', 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮.'
🔎 Anika Baines is a circus performer, burlesque artist, and entertainer from South Africa. After a period of exploration and self-discovery, Anika has spent the past six years establishing herself in the circus arts, and for the last three years she has embraced the sultry, empowering world of burlesque.

As a maker I am trying to find ways to connect my love of circus with my love of burlesque. In my work I would love to be able to create a piece where in you don't see circus and burlesque but one style (circlesque). I want to have the artforms so intertwined that you can't separate the moments of circus from the moments of burlesque.

Within Makershuis Tilburg, and with help of burlesque-costume expert Miss Chrissy Kiss (), Anika is researching ways to combine her circus discipline (aerial hoop) with burlesque technique to create clean ways to remove costumes within an act. In which ways and movements could ‘doing circus-technique’ and ‘removing parts of the costume’ become a fluid transition between the two artforms circus and burlesque? A costume design- & movement based research about making, breaking and redesigning different elements of a classic burlesque act so that they can function on the hoop but also be easily removed when needed.
