Draaimolen

Draaimolen Carefully curated. Grown from the forest floor. Rooted in music, art and independence. Draaimolen Festival - 4&5 September

10/06/2026

Last year, Godflesh filled The Pit with a one-of-a-kind obscure ambiance that the stage hadn’t seen before. They made our feet sink five centimetres deeper into the sand, our hearts dropping to our bellies as we felt the intensity of their sound.

And we absolutely loved their performance!! They played metal so loud it became ambient, a low-frequency current running through every body in the pit.

Earlier this year, Justin Broadrick announced that Godflesh would never play live again due to significant health issues. The night in The Pit was one of their final performances, and we are very grateful to have witnessed this.

Looking back at this performance, we’re inspired to let our festival ideas marinate a bit longer. Godflesh proved that sometimes taking the time leads to the most beautiful explosions...

See you in the forest baby 🤘

Since 2013, Holy Pink has been our favorite moment of July. It is the one day where the Muzentuin becomes a sanctuary for the bold and the beautiful!

We are proud to be part of Pride and this day is our gift to you; a completely free celebration of everything that makes Roze Maandag feel like home.

Unleash your inner icon and bring your best energy, we will handle the rest! Aka super lush line-up incoming soon, and yes, that includes performers who truly know how to make an entrance 👀

From the atelier to your eyes. A glimpse into Chiron Duong’s work process as he created the artwork for this year’s festival.

He took the idea of Draaimolen as an emotion and made it physical. Playing with this beautiful craftsmanship he illustrates how music transfers through us until the lines between listener and performer completely disappear.

Super sold out and already deep into what comes next, we're excited to start pulling back the curtain. Here's the stunning artwork for Draaimolen Festival 2026, created by Chiron Duong ❤️

Chiron crafted each character by hand before bringing them into the studio. Through his lens he folded light, colour and dancers into each other until the lines blur and everything becomes one. The listener becomes the performer. The body becomes the forest. Exactly how we experience the festival.

After almost raising the white flag last summer, we got a second life and found our way back to our roots. Creating from the heart and trusting our gut.
Intertwining music, art and nature with all of you at the center of it. We cannot wait to see you in the forest September 4 and 5 💙

Three years of dreamworlds, surrealism, and a visual language that changed how both we and you see Draaimolen Festival.

Kévin Bray has been part of the Draaimolen family since 2023, and his creative vision plunged us into a new era. At times, it took us a moment to settle into the worlds he was building, but in the end the artworks always felt completely Draaimolen.

He is one of the most talented artists we've ever worked with, and we cannot thank him enough. This slideshow is a celebration of everything he created for us. Our poster collaboration comes to an end here, but this is not the last you will see of Kévin at Draaimolen 👁️

Merci beaucoup Kévin ♥️

Draaimolen Festival 2026 is sold out faster than ever!!! 🤯🤯🤯

In the past months we have gone from uncertainty about the future, to planning 3 more years ahead, and the support we got from you in this period has been overwhelming! We are deeply grateful for this and we hope to translate our gratitude into your festival experience ❤️

This means we are transforming almost all stages as we want to give each and all of you the best weekend of the year, leaving inspired and with a full heart!

The line-up is taking shape too and it looks very non Draaimolen so far, which is a good thing we suppose, as more than ever we try to integrate our booking process with the development of our stage designs.

We hope to share more soon, of course, and for now wish you all a very sunny week 🌞

Endless love from the whole Draaimolen Team ❤️

Whilst looking forward to Draaimolen Festival 2026, we’re looking back to be inspired by what touched us most throughout the years.

One day we will never forget is Draaimolen Island in 2022. If you were there, you’ll remember the 35 millimetres of rain per hour and the challenge of stopping the booth from floating into the lake. Despite the heavy rain, we felt so much warmth in our hearts and on the dancefloors.

Sometimes, when everything is working against you, it’s easier to let go and find beauty in the moment. Dancing to keep warm with bare feet in soaked clothes. Protecting your rare vinyl from getting wet by crouching over the decks in your improvised raincoat (aka trash bag). Together, we felt that the music was bigger and more beautiful than all the day’s problems.

What a day, what a crowd! Good memories. 💜

P.S. Hopefully we can bring back Draaimolen Island next year!

Since Draaimolen Festival 2017, Rafael Dimiioniatis has been part of the family. Nearly a decade in, he knows the festival the way you know a place you love; where the light falls, when to wait, when to step back and when to jump in.

His photography is firm and elegant. He follows the light, lets it frame his compositions, and finds the overview where others would zoom in. Patient, wide, unhurried.

Thank you Rafael for so many years of beautful imagery ♥️

Last September we opened the festival with a special 4 hour sonic exploration led by Wata Igarashi & Kuniyuki.

Named after Salvador Dalí’s melting clock, they curated The Melting Hours: an experience in which sound took precedence over time, causing it to slowly slip from our minds. The dance floor was filled with an intimate balance of tension and release, pulling us all into hypnosis.

We could not have wished for a better act to inaugurate our Moon stage, and we are excited to see where this year will take us 🌗

Draaimolen is built from the ground up together with many talented artists. Every year, we look for new sonic geniuses with the creative potential to help us develop the festival further.

With the return of our open call, we invite all artists who are as committed as we are to creating music independently and from the heart.

Our aim is to open up the increasingly tight booking ecosystem and find talents whose voices in the scene may not be too big, but whose music speaks volumes.

As in previous years, we will find spaces at the 2026 Draaimolen Festival to showcase artists selected through the open call. Other selected artists will be added to our database, which we will share with like-minded organisations upon request.

We look forward to receiving your ideas 💫
