Amsterdam - Breda - Peaky Blinders - Tilburg - Thesis Writing - Maastricht - Performance - Album.

Close to a month away. I spent that time learning the importance of resting and leisure. Those moments we take to rest are vitally important. When we rest, we play and that playful energy is what feeds the work.

Both play and work go together. When one fades so does the other. When did you last truly rest?
Going forward I want to be more balanced in that regard. That balance showed up in Maastricht yesterday. It’s also showing up in my annual poetry album which is on its way.

I’d like to thank .nour for giving me the opportunity to discuss the importance of poetry as well as meeting some great souls who were amazing poets. It was special to meet the Maastricht community.

Opened yesterday’s workshop with .amnesty, hosted by ✨

The theme was freedom of expression, and honestly it felt like the right theme to walk into with a poem. There is something about standing in front of a room and opening with words that sets a different kind of tone. Not a lecture. An invitation.

I shared a speech, a poem, and a piece of my own to get things started. Then alongside my colleagues we got into the craft, walking the room through some poetry techniques to help everyone find their footing and put it all together. And that is where things got interesting.

What I did not expect was how much the room would give back. The audience wrote their own poems during the workshop and when they shared them, I was genuinely moved. People who maybe had never thought of themselves as poets, putting language to things that matter deeply to them. Freedom of expression was not just the theme on the flyer. It was alive in what they wrote.

That is what poetry does at its best. It does not ask for credentials. It just asks you to be honest. Yesterday the room was full of that honesty, and I left more inspired than I came in.

Grateful for .amnesty for creating this space and for hosting it.

Are you that desperate oh world
For me to become a fallen saint?

So cold in your dealings, you send me
- wave after wave of your soldiers who’d hurt me.

Are you that cold? That obvious in your hypocrisy that you would tell the young men to judge themselves by metrics that are unfair and not everlasting?

Yes you’ve filled my heart with rage,
For so long I’ve innocently requested what I craved,

Now I’ll shout and scream!
Damn you dunya,

Trying to break our young hearts,
And turn us into fallen saints.

Damn you I say damn you.

We are excited to announce the three artists who will be leading the workshop. All members of Breda University’s Poetry Club.
cr2 and are talented poets and authors with being a teacher of philosophy who will delve into the philosophy of poetry.

Other members of BUAS Poetry Club will also be present! We are excited to work with and .amnesty !
