Last chance ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Thanks to everyone who visited 'Slow Drift(s) Chapter 3: Alonso Cedillo'. The exhibition is on view today and tomorrow February 28th from 13.00 to 18.00.
cedillo (b.1988, Mexico) works across painting, sculpture, video, printmaking, and programming. His work explores how digital interactions—through social media, VR, screenshots, and leaked files—reflect the economic and social impact of the Internet.

Thanks Alonso for your trust, as well as and for making this exhibition possible.

The Balcony has invited Home Cinema to develop a screening program responding to the current exhibition "Slow Drift(s) Chapter 3: Alonso Cedillo".

🎥🍿

Taking as a point of departure Alonso Cedillo’s research on conspiracy theory in a collapsing world, Home Cinema has selected three works that resonate with the human dimension of belief embedded in his practice.

With works by Minne Kersten, Chema García Ibarra, and Nguyễn Lê Hoàng Phúc.

The screening is kindly hosted at Stiching Ruimtevaart, and supported by Stroom Den Haag.

A workshop on digital security and our relationship to online systems with .cedillo 🤖

Register via link in bio! 🤓

This workshop offers a practical and reflective introduction to internet privacy and digital self-protection. At a time when everyday online actions are constantly tracked, analysed, and monetised, the session invites participants to pause and reflect on what it means to be online today - and how much control we actually have over our digital lives.

Participants engage directly with the tools and settings that shape their digital visibility - from password and permissions to everyday security practices. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own smartphones, as they can work directly with their personal devices. The session is designed as an interactive and supportive space, where questions, shared experiences, and discussion are welcome.

Rather than offering a complete solution, the workshop frames digital privacy as an ongoing practice - one that connects personal agency, care, and resistance within broader digital systems.

Five more days until the opening of Slow Drift(s) Chapter Three: Alonso Cedillo!

Cedillo started mixing video and painting and making flash video games in 2009, creating installations and coding interactive experiences. Three years later he began an ongoing practice & research on alternate economies, community currencies, timebanks, and tokenization through the creation of Alternate Reality Games (ARG), creating digital and in-world happenings. Since 2012, he has promoted the use of tokenization to create networks that allow us to gain equity in the age of the digital revolution.

ON VIEW NOV.28.—FEB.28.2026

🚲The Balcony presents the third chapter of Slow Drift(s), featuring the work of Alonso Cedillo, who often does not differentiate between players and audiences. For his first presentation in the Netherlands, he develops an installation that riffs on the “computer room” as a space where the virtuality of online life and the physicality of network infrastructure overlap, along with the personas of its speculative user: a nondescript conspiracy theorist of the post-internet age. Visitors are invited to observe, in a voyeuristic fashion, the domestic environment of this absent subject, who is present only through the traces of their consumption — from YouTube vlogs to half-eaten sandwiches. The installation hosts a selection from Cedillo’s The Awkward Truth video series, which draws from artificially generated documentary aesthetics to blur the line between entertainment and reality-building.
