Without wonder, we’re fu**ed.

And somehow, wonder is becoming harder to hold on to.

Cooking from scratch. Making something with your hands. Writing. Exploring. Following an idea without knowing where it will lead.

Our grandmothers knew this. They even crocheted their own potholders. 😁🔥

Wonder is the oil of life. Without it, we dry up.

So I keep making. Playing. Exploring. Creating. And bringing it all into my The Art Beat Club

It’s 97°F outside. (36 in the Netherlands).
And 86°F inside. (30!)

Any reasonable person would be melting into the couch.
Not me!!
Instead, I’m reading and writing like someone possessed. Writing. Crossing things out. Starting over. Digging.

Writing a book is weird.
You think you’re writing about one thing.
Then you realize you’re writing about the thing underneath the thing.

And then there’s another layer.
And another.
At some point, the book stops feeling like something you’re creating.

It starts feeling like something you’re uncovering.

Like it’s been sitting there all along, waiting for you to stop being clever long enough to find it.

It’s equal parts exhilarating and mildly unhinged.

I can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing.
