Last Sunday was the opening of “Transcendental Tranquility” and we had a great time introducing the work of Dirk Roseport to a new audience. Thank you to all those who came by and had a chat with us and the artist about his spectacular seascape photography.

For this solo exhibition we have placed down two benches in the centre of the gallery, to encourage visitors to sit and slowly observe the pieces, which reveal deeper details the more time you spend in their presence. Allowing your eyes time to adjust to the darkness unlocks the tranquil power of sea and sky which Dirk Roseport so beautifully captures.

Visit the gallery and discover the details for yourself!

Please contact the gallery for enquired about pricing and availability.

Join us this Sunday to celebrate the opening of TRANSCENDENTAL TRANQUILITY, a solo exhibition of work by photographer Dirk Roseport.

In this series, Roseport withdraws from the pressures of time and positions himself as a receptive presence in the face of the elemental. The ocean, the horizon, and the sky—stripped down to their most austere formal essence—become his sole vocabulary. It is from this disciplined restraint that a body of work emerges that far transcends its apparent simplicity.

Come by between 15:00 - 17:00 on Sunday 17 May, enjoy a drink with us and discover the evocative work of Dirk Roseport.

After being on show at AAF Berlin, works of Lisanne Hoogerwerf have made their way back and are currently on show in the gallery. This includes a selection of video work, lightboxes, as well as fine art prints. Come and see the breadth of Lisanne’s idiosyncratic work, in which she creates surreal dreamworlds from handmade miniatures.

Lisanne Hoogerwerf (1987) graduated at the Royal Academy of Art in 2011 and lives and works in The Hague, The Netherlands. The artworks of Lisanne Hoogerwerf depict real-unreal places: places that you can’t find in ordinary reality, but that are made with real materials like pieces of wood, sand, glue, and painted canvas. She creates her art as a way to visualise inner and outer human landscapes. Working mainly from imagination, she wants to lay hold on an archetypal language.

Her studio floor functions as a stage upon which she builds, captures, and deconstructs her landscapes. With her scenes, she sometimes refer to global developments, like the pandemic, the climate crisis and environmental issues. The scenes are emptied of the hustle and bustle of everyday life: no traffic or crowded cityscapes to be seen. Contrasting characteristics and elements can be linked to her work, for example: utopian/dystopian, playfulness/seriousness, society/nature, beauty/drabness.

NEW ARTIST / We are excited to announce that Berlin-based painter Christian August is now represented by Project 2.0 / Gallery.

Christian August works at the threshold between worlds. His paintings locate themselves in ecosystems that exist nowhere precisely, and August navigates this path within an abstract expressionist approach. His landscapes are imbued with memory and imagination, exuding an inviting and dreamy charm that is both recognisable and alien.

A selection of works can currently be seen at Project 2.0 / Gallery.

SAVE THE DATE | In May, Project 2.0 / Gallery will present “Transcendental Tranquility”, a solo exhibition of work by Belgian photographer Dirk Roseport.

Roseport’s intimate seascape works invoke a meditative silence and invites the viewer to counter the overstimulation of our modern existence in favour of a quiet contemplation.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Sunday 17 May, between 15:00 - 17:00, with Dirk Roseport present.

We look forward to introducing you to the stunning work of Dirk Roseport!

About the series:

In his Transcendental Tranquility series, Roseport withdraws from the pressures of time and positions himself as a receptive presence in the face of the elemental. The ocean, the horizon, and the sky—stripped down to their most austere formal essence—become his sole vocabulary. It is from this disciplined restraint that a body of work emerges that far transcends its apparent simplicity.

About Dirk Roseport:

After a start in the financial world, Roseport soon moved on to the advertising sector, where he was Creative Director in several advertising agencies including Ted Bates, DMB&B, McCann Erickson, Young & Rubicam and Brandlab. For three years he was WW Creative Director at Filmnet Pay-TV (Nethold/Canal +/Richemont Group).

He worked closely with professional photographers and directors in the Benelux and abroad, got inspired by the work they did and learned from them on the sets.

We recently visited the studio of painter Linda Overzee for a conversation about her fresco-on-linen works. Hear from her directly on the history and tradition of fresco technique, and what makes her approach distinctly her own.

Linda Overzee brings a more than two thousand year old technique into the present: portable fresco on linen canvas. From MAAKHAVEN Studios in The Hague, she creates layered, abstract works using pure oxides, pigments, and lime — a slow and intensive process that results in paintings in which time becomes tangible. Each layer carries its own history, giving the work an archaeological depth, like weathered walls that hold stories.

From 16-19 April, Linda Overzee’s work will be on show at the third edition of Affordable Art Fair Berlin, as part of De Galerie Den Haag’s presentation at the fair. Be sure to see these incredible pieces in real life!

Turn your phone, and step behind the scenes with photographer Dirk Hardy as he completes Episode 14 of his ongoing series Vivarium. Discover more about Hardy’s process as well as the stories behind the handmade worlds presented in his two ongoing series Vivarium and Residue City.

The video was on display in our stand at Art Rotterdam/Unseen last weekend, where plenty of people experienced the breadth of Dirk Hardy’s work, from both the Vivarium and Residue City series, including the debut of Vivarium Episode 14: Shift.
