This Raksha Bandhan, The Gandhi Centre came alive with celebrations that ran through the entire day, bringing together students from yoga, Hindi, Tabla, Kathak and Bharatanatyam classes.

Throughout this beautiful day, the different classrooms had come together in one shared spirit, a simple reminder that festivals like Raksha Bandhan have a special way of connecting people.

This Hindi Diwas, the Embassy of India invites you all to be a part of the celebration through various competitions.

Whether you're a little one just discovering the magic of Hindi stories, a student who loves to write, or someone who simply enjoys the rhythm of a good recitation — there's a place for you here:

📖 Story Telling Competition — ages 9-12
🎤 Recitation Competition — 18 yrs & above
✍️ Handwriting Competition (14:00–15:00 hrs)
Level 1: ages 6-8
Level 2: ages 9-11
Level 3: ages 12-15
📝 Essay Writing Competition (14:00–15:00 hrs) — 18 yrs & above

Come cheer, come compete, come just soak in a space where Hindi gets to be the star of the day. Bring your family, bring your kids, bring that one friend who still writes the prettiest Devanagari you've ever seen, everyone's welcome to participate!

TGC hosted an evening of Ghazals featuring Mr. Mehtab Mehdi Hassan on Friday, 21 August 2026.

The Gandhi Centre hosted a soulful Kirtan performance by Sri Sridama Das from Trinidad and Tobago, bringing together music, devotion and spiritual harmony.

The evening offered a meaningful experience of Bhakti through music, highlighting the universal power of devotional traditions to connect hearts and cultures across borders.
