Through this particular mode of storytellingโ€”at times playful, at times disorientingโ€”she offers a through-line of memory and present experiences; of imagination and raw intimacy; of reminiscing and re-enactment. ๐˜”๐˜ช๐˜น๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ ๐˜๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ๐˜ด approaches entangled relationships (the familial, romantic, estranged and friendly) with honestyโ€”investigating loss and absence, as well as family history, love and affection.

For this exhibition, Vita Soul Wilmering has created a spatial collage of shifting film scenes, centred around themes of intimacy, memory and re-enactment. The six-channel video installation features fragments of the artistโ€™s earlier films, current work in progress, and never-before-shown footage from Wilmeringโ€™s own archive. ๐˜”๐˜ช๐˜น๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ ๐˜๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ๐˜ด includes fragments from the films (un)scripted (2024), The failed holiday: episode 10 (2021), Spiegl (2021), Insomnia (2026), Dear Athanase (in progress) and Zonder (2014).

What is disease and who decides? Biomedical scientist and violist Vera Liselotte Broek explores how our ideas about health, illness and normality shape medicine, society and our understanding of being human. We often think we know what illness is. But what if the
definition is less obvious than it seems? In this thought-provoking talk, she will explore the boundaries between medicine, art and lived experience by asking a deceptively simple question: what is disease, and who gets to define it?

Alongside the exhibition, Vita Soul Wilmering invited three people to give a talk about their work. Coming from fields as diverse as medicine, poetry, and historical research, each speaker engages with intimate or deeply personal themes at the heart of their work. In different ways, their talks echo the themes of the exhibition.

The talks will be held in English.
