Super jam some months ago thanks to Stichting Tunnel Vision Boxtel in Boxtel / Liempde
Concept: "The Shark Wrangler"
Sharks are considered apex predators of the ocean, one of natures untamable primal powers. They cannot be controlled.
On the beanie of the character there is cowboy and rope. The cowboy is also a symbol of freedom and independence.
In some ways street art packages the wildness of graffiti in a way that most people can appreciate - even when there is so much more to it than might be noticeable at a glance or to the 'untrained' eye.
If you inspect this painting up close, it is painted with control but also the rawness and energy of graffiti. It has elements of graffiti lettering, like most Studio Zepa paintings.
This is important for me as graffiti letters is how is began painting on walls in the first place. It keeps me connected with my spark and passion.
Ultimately I still love and respect lettering, making it, and all the forms of graffiti.
The significance of painting something like this at such a jam - to bring more attention to the pieces 'swimming' around it. To help more people notice something they perhaps had not seen before. To encourage people to look closer with open minds.
Once again a big thanks to the team at Stichting Tunnel Vision Boxtel - you guys put on a great festival, showed great hospitality, professionalism, and passion for the artform. Respect!
Great vibez, great artists all round, and a sick weekend!
