Fall is here y’all! After a quiet time being a bit lost, I took out my watercolors and started playing around a bit. Are you also enjoying all the beautiful colors covering our earth?

Sometimes the decay of old things can remind us of the younger glory days.

Back at working in my sketchbook with a picture I found on Pinterest. I love old libraries and when seeing this picture (you can see it if you swipe to the right) I could visualize it how it could have looked when it was operational.

This was a really fun task I thought up and I think I will do many more of these. The perspective might be a bit wonky but I like it.

With my scribble on the painting, I have to officially call it done!

This painting has its own challenges. How could I take care of it not feeling flat? How do I go about toning the greens down? If you follow my work, then you know how much I love bright colors. I try to get off that road and mute my colors more.

Painting the rope was a challenge because there are so many shadows and lights that needed to be done, to make the rope look like it’s hanging from the boot and not just sitting there. To make it look like a chaos and not just a line.

So now it is sitting on the shelf, waiting to get dry. Once it is dry, I will varnish it and then it’s ready to go for sale!

This was yesterdays progress. Today I am going to finish this! I need to give the rope more details and fix some small things. Then I’m putting it on the wall where it will get critical glances very often… til I’m more or less satisfied.

With the leaves starting to change colors outside, it feels strange to be painting leaves in high summer. Fall is starting to pull me into its magic and all I actually want to do is paint those beautiful colors. Time to finish up this painting soon!

Painting update! There now grows grasses out of the lake.

Painting progress! Today I worked mainly on the mid ground, adding grasses and a small island with a birch tree on it. Loving how much texture the painting it starting to get! If you want to see, have a look in my story 👀

This has been a very therapeutic day painting rocks. I just can’t stop and I don’t want to stop working on this painting! It’s amazing seeing it coming beyond its ugly phase and come to life before my eyes. Man, I want to go swim in that lake!
