Hi all.

With the final parts fitted, the Italeri Scale Model Kits 1/32 F-104S ASA/M Starfighter is finally finished.
This is my contribution to a duo build with Rowdy Flugzeugwerke. His creation represents, the aircraft in its unfortunate and career ending hard landing at Leeuwarden airbase, May 2, 2002.

The basic kit is very nice but lacks a bit in surface details. Since the real aircraft weathered quite badly, the details were quite visible, so I decided to add rivets, mainly on the fuselage.
The cockpit of the ASA/M version is different from the 'S' which is included in the kit. fox Red Fox Studio produces a nice 3d printed cockpit set but you need to modify the kit parts a bit. Reference photos from the Internet proved to be invaluable here.
My original plan was to arm the model with 2 'Sidewinder' missiles under the wings but the launcher rails would only fit on the wingtips. This meant only the 'Sparrow' rails were installed.
The model was painted with MrHobby paints over a black primer base. As with all my models, the model was painted in multiple thin, cloudy coats to achieve a weathered or discolored effect. An oilpaint wash was all I used to give the aircraft a well used look.
The 2 resin carts are from Videoaviation and are a very nice addition to create a realistic scene.
Just for fun, I let AI 'play' with 2 of my photos.

Hi all.

Due to the tropical temperatures of the past few weeks, I wasn't too motivated to do a lot of modelling. I did manage to put all decals and stencils on the ZM Phantom though. That achievement alone should be enough to award me the Fifa Peace Prize, don't you think?
Anyway, here are a few recent photos.

Next update will be the landing gear and under wing stores.

Hi all.

The past week I made quite a bit of progress on the ZM F-4D build. The main parts were glued together and, although the fit was not terrible, I can't say I'm really impressed with it either. Several seams had to be filled sanded and rescrible to make them look presentable.
Anyway, when I was satisfied how the surface details looked, I applied a black primer and painted the camouflage using MrHobby paints. The dark green colour (H309) was a bit too light for my taste, so I added a few drops of black repainted the green areas. A few thin coats of Aquagloss were airbrused on the model next, followed by an oilpaint wash.
The metal parts were painted with several different colours from the AMMO by Mig Jimenez A-Stand range.

Hi all.

I just started with a new kit: Mura's 1:48 F-4D Phantom II with a bunch of aftermarket goodies, mainly from ResKit.
The cockpit is very detailed but I decided to use 3D printed instrument panels since I don't think I can do a better paintjob myself. The only offering at I could find is from Quinta and they look pretty good.
I will ad wiring to the instruments behind the front seat later.
I brush painted the seats from Quickboost and the pre colored pull handles are from Eduard.

Hi all.

This week I did the final jobs on the Italeri 1/32 F-104S ASA-M. Just when I thought the model was finished a small disaster happened. When I removed the masking tape from teh windscreen, I noticed some weird goo on the inside of said windscreen. It was impossible to remove, so I tried to, carefully, detach it from the fuselage. As you may guess, I had to order a new windscreen from Italeri because it cracked. 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Anyway, here are a few photos of the build so far while I patiently wait for the new part to arrive.

Hi all.

Today l did the final jobs to finish the Revell rebox of the Hasegawa 1/48 A-7E Corsair ll. The pitot tubes were fitted, the ejection seat was painted and placed in the cockpit, the landing light was also fitted and last but not least, the canopy was placed onto the model.
The kit was built mostly straight from the box, except for the Aires cockpit set.
Overall, the fit was quite good but the very hard plastic is not the best to work with.
I was very pleased with the kit decals. Too bad the 'VA-46' test was not included on the sheet. From several different spare decals l was able to fix this.
Paint used was MrHobby H308 over Alclad black primer. Weathering was done with washes made from Abteilung 502 oilpaint.

Hi all.

This is probably the last update before the Hasegawa A-7E is finished.
The VA-46 decals are added on the other side now as well as the under wing stores.
Also, a few small jobs were taken care of like adding the navigation lights, steps and boarding ladder, fuel dump and arrester hook.
Some oil streaks were made with oilpaint on the underside of the fuselage and drop tanks.

Hi all.

Next update of the A-7E build.
Yesterday I finished painting the airframe and aplied a coat of Aquagloss.
Today I brushed an oilpaint wash over the whole aircraft and wiped all excess of after a few minutes drying time.
The kit decals are very nice but a bit old. They are a bit brittle, so I need to do a few minor touch ups.
