Wat een fantastische muzikanten hebben we zaterdagavond op het podium staan:
Chieko Donker Duyvis is een celliste, zangeres en componiste en heeft
Braziliaanse/Japanse/Nederlandse roots. Haar unieke manier van improviseren met haar
stem en cello leidde tot tournees door Europa, Azië, Mexico, artistieke residenties in Brazilië,
optredens op het EuroJazz festival en op grote podia in Nederland zoals het Concertgebouw en Bimhuis.
Als multidisciplinair kunstenaar in hart en nieren ontwikkelde ze zich verder in het
theatervak, het creëren van partituren voor internationale documentaires, het samenwerken met beeldende kunstenaars. Ze speelde speciale projecten met leden van het
Concertgebouworkest en was Artist in Focus voor de Cello Biennale 2024, waar ze werd
uitgenodigd als soliste met het Dutch Wind Ensemble, en daar haar nieuwe composities voor cello, stem en blaasorkest introduceerde tijdens een tour door Nederland.
Angelo Ursini is bij de trouwe Verueño bezoeker inmiddels wellicht bekend; deze muzikale duizendpoot componeert voor diverse ensembles zoals het AKOM Ensemble en het
Marinierskapel Blaasorkest en speelt in diverse ensembles op wel 10 instrumenten zoals fluit,
klarinet, saxofoon, maar ook diverse etnische fluiten. Heel bijzonder allemaal.
Juliano Abramovay is een veelzijdige muzikant, componist en onderzoeker met een passie
voor het verkennen van diverse muziektradities. Juliano's muziekprojecten combineren de
melodische rijkdom van traditionele muziek uit het oostelijke Middellandse Zeegebied met
zijn Braziliaanse muzikale achtergrond. Hij toert met het Netherlands Blazers Ensemble
(NBE), maakte de soundtrack voor de circus-theaterproductie Sawdust Symphony (Korzo Theater, Den Haag), geeft les aan Codarts en is betrokken bij het Rotterdam Arts and Science Lab (RASL).

Saturday, May 9, it’s happening: the start of our Verueño season 2026!An hour and a half of the Chieko Donker Duyvis Trio, and that for free!What fantastic musicians we have on stage on Saturday night:
Chieko Donker Duyvis is a cellist, singer, and composer and has Brazilian/Japanese/Dutch
roots. Her unique way of improvising with her voice and cello has led to tours through Europe, Asia, Mexico, artistic residencies in Brazil, performances at the EuroJazz festival, and on major
stages in the Netherlands such as the Concertgebouw and Bimhuis.
As a multidisciplinary artist at heart, she further developed herself in theater, creating scores
for international documentaries, and collaborating with visual artists. She performed special
projects with members of the Concertgebouw Orchestra and was Artist in Focus for the Cello
Biennale 2024, where she was invited as a soloist with the Dutch Wind Ensemble, and there
introduced her new compositions for cello, voice, and wind orchestra during a tour through
the Netherlands.
Angelo Ursini may by now be known to the loyal Verueño visitor; this musical polymath
composes for various ensembles such as the AKOM Ensemble and the Marines Brass Band and
plays in various ensembles on as many as 10 instruments such as flute, clarinet, saxophone,
but also various ethnic flutes. Very special indeed.
Juliano Abramovay is a versatile musician, composer, and researcher with a passion for
exploring diverse musical traditions. Juliano's music projects combine the melodic richness of
traditional music from the eastern Mediterranean with his Brazilian musical background. He
tours with the Netherlands Blazers Ensemble (NBE), created the soundtrack for the circustheater production Sawdust Symphony (Korzo Theater, The Hague), teaches at Codarts, and is
involved with the Rotterdam Arts and Science Lab (RASL).
