Proud Witty Artist aka Proud ME! 💙😄

Proud of my brandnew series "The Bitter Sweets" now on display at Kobalt & Co as part of the exhibition Sweethearts: The Great Escape! 💙

Proud of, after what feels like the longest time, finally having mastered creating and presenting my mixed media collage art on canvas (canvas wood panels, to be precise) 💙

Proud of having been able to pull this off just in time for Sweethearts' opening the previous weekend - under tremendous time pressure and combining several deadlines for other projects 💙

So... yeah, just... PROUD! 💙

Presenting three works from my brand new series "The Bitter Sweets" (2026) at Kobalt & Co!

Because, after all, too much sweetener really isn’t that good for you, is it?

🖤 ‘’Pretty Little Bittersweet Nothings!"

🖤 ‘’We are the Bitter Sweets that Time forgot’’

All three are mixed media collages on framed canvas wood panels. All materials used are archival, including UV proof coating. Will post close ups of each individual piece soon! 🖤

Sweethearts: The Great Escape! is an exhibition about escapism: the human desire, or a need, to escape from reality. Sweethearts offers gentleness, sweetness and love, yet, at the same time, this exhibition is so over the top that it both moves you and rubs you the wrong way.

Sweethearts shows art which is both sweet and lovely, yet sometimes so sugary-sweet that it makes your teeth ache by simply looking at it. Sweethearts also includes art that reveals the scratches and cracks beneath that sugarcoated surface. Because, sometimes, we may all desire to escape reality, but does reality ever let go of us?

Finito! 🐇

"Shine Your Treacherous Light On Us" (2026) 🐇

Mixed media collage on canvas board, using acrylic paint, acrylic ink & various ink markers. Paper cuts adhered using a matte acrylic gel medium. Size is 21x30cm (8,2x11,8") and all materials used are archival 🐇

This one is raw, it's visceral - to be honest, the papercut drawing originally was "just a sketch". But then again, sometimes "just a sketch" evokes so much, it is so much more... So I decided, rather impulsively, to just use it 🐇

Long time followers have known for a long time, that my art encapsulates the witty and the whimsical, yes, but also includes a raw, visceral, or even a 'darker' side. Like two sides of the same coin, The Light simply cannot exist without The Darkness, or rather, The Shadows 🐇

About availability, pricing etc: bear with me, working on a brandnew website & shop but that all needs doing in between other work obligations so .. yeah, bear with me, people! 🫣

Been a bit quiet around here, apologies for that! Other work obligations, a new phone and, generally, finding it hard to rebuild my art page here after last year's drama when me-ta de-activated my original art & project pages... 😫

Still, I'm stubbornly persisting! 😏

Yesterday was a pretty good day in the studio, so here's a selfie of Yours Witty in between working on various art pieces 📸

Also kinda came up with an idea on how to finish this baby behind me - this piece has been sitting over here for quite some time now, while I was waiting for it to tell me where it wanted to go. Sometimes, the ones that seem to be the easy ones in the beginning, turn out to be the hardest ones in the end! 😫🥴

Guess it's all part of the creative process, huh? 😏

Some of the Witty Art I've been working on over the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to go to the studio due some kind of horror-flu virus and some extremely bad weather (like, snow, ice, hail, rain, storm, arctic cold, you name it), so Yours Witty is NOT too happy... 😆

Luckily, the coming week we'll be returning to our regularly scheduled Dutch weather forecast, meaning a bit more agreable temperatures accompanied with lots of rain - so hopefully I'll be able to start creating and working on some Witty Art again! 🙏

Because these babies are just ever so patiently waiting to be finished!

Two pieces in progress for you!

Perhaps not in line with modern social media esthetics, let alone those utterly illogical algorhythms, but I love sharing works in progress pics! 📸

It is a way to share with you, my followers, how my Witty Art develops over time as well as the many and often unexpected directions it moves into! 😅

Another thing is that taking in progress pics in the studio and looking at them later, helps me to process and understand better all that is going on in a piece. It helps me determine my next steps, which parts need more work or should be left alone, and so on 📸
