⚠️ THE DSR POWERFILTER IS NOT A REEF MAT, FILTER SOCK, OR FILTER FLOSS IN THE SUMP!
The DSR Powerfilter existed before 2013 and was developed to solve a specific problem: BACKLOG, meaning accumulated waste caused by overdue maintenance.
Accumulated waste between rocks, beneath the reef, and in low-flow areas can cause serious aquarium problems, even when water parameters are excellent.
⚙️ THE FUNDAMENTAL DIFFERENCE
The DSR Powerfilter uses pump pressure to force water through a layer of filter floss.
As the floss becomes dirtier, resistance increases and the effective filter structure becomes finer. As long as the pump maintains sufficient flow, increasingly fine particles can therefore be captured.
Loose filter floss, filter socks, and sponges do not automatically provide the same forced flow.
A ReefMat comes technically closest and is an excellent mechanical filter. However, it operates using a difference in water level and automatically advancing filter fleece, not the same pump-driven pressure buildup.
🌊 WHY IN THE DISPLAY?
Because that is where the waste backlog is!
A filter in the sump only removes waste that actually reaches the sump.
When dealing with a backlog, we therefore preferably place the DSR Powerfilter directly in the display, combined with flow that loosens the accumulated waste and transports it to the filter.
💡 THE DSR BASIC RULE
NOT HOW MUCH WATER YOU MOVE, BUT HOW MUCH WASTE YOU ACTUALLY REMOVE!
We do not compare devices. We assess their function.
A ReefMat is excellent for regular mechanical filtration, but it is not automatically a solution for an accumulated waste backlog.
🪸 The DSR Powerfilter was developed as a problem solver, not as a competitor to other filters.
PREVENT THE BACKLOG. AND IF IT OCCURS, TACKLE IT AT THE SOURCE!
