Summer is over, the days are already getting shorter, and thoughts of the long winter ahead are creeping in. Keep in eye out for the rest of the WHO FILMS WHO programme for 2026, soon to be announced and check our website for save the dates.

But for now, a throwback to that summer storm night, when we previewed Wendelien van Oldenborgh’s new film Lyrical Vengeance with KLAUW collective.

A room full of people, a film, and a storm outside ⚡️and hopefully not a burning projector in the heat in 30+ degree heat at 9pm

The Fall of Communism as Seen in Gay Po*******hy
by William E. Jones is online until the end of August!

The Fall of Communism as Seen in Gay Po*******hy is a short video work composed of found pornographic footage from the early 1990s, following the collapse of communist regimes in Eastern Europe. The film presents encounters between Western men and younger Eastern European men, capturing a moment of geopolitical transition through intimate, transactional exchanges. Stripped of conventional narrative, the work foregrounds the bodies, gestures, and dynamics of looking, revealing underlying tensions of desire, power, and economic disparity.
Watch on our website and listen to the conversation between William E. Jones, Anna Łuczak and Sophie Bates

This conversation and online screening form a part of WHO FILMS WHO? WET’s 2026 thematic programme exploring authorship, representation, and the dynamics between filmmaker and subject. This year we are presenting films that have sparked controversy, been withdrawn, or censored, examining how social norms—both formal and informal—shape moving-image culture and what this reveals about the times in which we live.

William E. Jones, based in Los Angeles, makes films, film installations, paintings, reconstructs and restores works from marginal masters, teaches, curates, writes about the cinema and creates art books. Through all these mediums, he explores s*xuality, history, and systems of power. His films have been shown internationally, including at Anthology Film Archives in New York, the Austrian Film Museum in Vienna, and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, among many others.

It’s been a while since we put artists together in an exhibition..

No Right Way 2 Cum - Group show
25 April - 12 June 2026
Opening 25 April 5-8pm

Open Fridays 2-6pm or by appointment

With films by Jean Genet, Thu Hà, Sidsel Meineche Hansen

The exhibition forms part of WET’s 2026 programme, WHO FILMS WHO?, which explores the ethics and power dynamics invoked when filming others. Moving between archival practices, animation, banned films and documentary, the programme raises the question: who makes the rules and what happens when they’re broken?
