Artist and curators duo, Milica Jovićević and Vladimir Radujkov are organising a multi-media exhibition in space of “de Achtertuin” in Kralingen-Crooswijk, during the Art Week Rotterdam, in February 2019. The intention is to place a spotlight on the socio-cultural and artistic vibrancy that the Kralingen-Crooswijk area has to offer. The idea is to bring the art lovers, families and individuals who are already visiting art events during Rotterdam Art Week, into Kralingen for not just an art exhibition, but an event which will include a selection of specifically Rotterdam based artists, designers, musicians, and performers.
De Achtertuin, often an empty space, is a rare gem, a raw diamond hidden in Kralingen (see Appendix for image of the space). “The Garden Project” will transform this place into a garden of sculptures, paintings, performance art, design and live music.
The aim is to offer something other then the traditional white cube space - to translate this into a space of artistic happening. The artworks will become entities that coexist in almost ecological and aesthetic balance.
A garden is a cherished place where friends and family gather to celebrate nature and life. In our project this will be a garden curated with artworks selected on their emotional value that translates to what a garden emits.
