Music Matters

Music Matters brengt meer muziek in Rotterdam. www.musicmatters.nu Uit deze ontmoetingen ontstaan bijzondere cross-overs en nieuwe muzikale samenwerkingen.

Met verschillende (gratis) projecten voor kinderen, jongeren en volwassenen laten we elk talent schitteren én zorgen we ervoor dat mensen elkaar ontmoeten, ongeacht hun culturele achtergrond of leeftijd.

On the 4th of June, we invite women and non-binary people in music to join Vocal Freedom, a 4-hour voice and embodiment workshop in .place , Overschie.

Maya InnerForce is an multidimensional artist, voice facilitator and sound practitioner whose work explores the connection between voice, body and creative expression.

Rooted in her ancestral lineage, she bridges worlds through voice, nature and spirit, weaving together somatic voice and body practices, music, ceremonial plant traditions, ritual practices and intuitive sound, guiding people back into presence and authentic expression.

Within this space, people reconnect with their inner force — the wisdom, creativity and life energy that live within each of us — remembering their voice and body as a source of connection, innocence and inner freedom.

Vocal Freedom is a workshop designed to reconnect the voice with body, breath and presence.
In the music industry, there is often pressure to perform, meet expectations and present your voice in a certain way. Over time, this can disconnect you from your natural expression.
This work is not about improving technique or learning how to sing better. It is about creating space where the voice can move freely again.

Through breathwork, movement, cacao and vocal exploration, we create conditions where expression becomes more intuitive and less controlled.
Vocal Freedom is about expression without judgment, and returning to a more natural relationship with your voice.

This workshop is designed as a small group experience, which means capacity is limited.

passen, ontstond ZYHH. In haar werk versmelten muziek, storytelling, acteren en creatie, zowel live als online. Ze bouwt werelden rondom haar muziek, geïnspireerd door haar jeugd en het nu. ZYHH klinkt als een zucht: het moment van loslaten.

Geeohmm… the Rotterdam-born singer often referred to as “the soft-toned baritone.”
A name that’s far from new — this crooner has spent years honing his craft, writing and producing for both himself and others. Under the name GUILLAUME., he previously released two singles: Without You (2022), followed by the hypnotic ballad Insomnia. Word has it he’s been working on a new project — one that leans into something more personal, more vulnerable. A first single will be ready for release in Autumn of 2026..

On the 4th of June, we invite women and non-binary people in music to join Vocal Freedom, a 4-hour voice and embodiment workshop in The Divine Place, Overschie.

In this safe space, we slow down before the start of summer and reconnect with voice through body, breath and sound.

This is not about performance or technique. It is about presence, expression, and allowing the voice to move without judgment.

We work with cacao, breathwork, movement and vocal exploration to support a deeper connection to expression and creativity.

A moment to return to yourself before stepping into a season of visibility and creation.

Last but not least, de andere deelnemers van The Academy!
a
Muziek zit in het DNA van Kyanni (2001). Geboren op Sint Maarten in een artistieke familie met Dominicaanse en Surinaamse roots, kreeg ze al op jonge leeftijd klassieke zangtraining, waarbij ze werd geïnspireerd door iconen als Whitney Houston. Haar sound wordt omschreven als een unieke mix van Soul en R&B, gekenmerkt door een operatische touch en powerhouse vocals. In de afgelopen jaren heeft zij haar plek gevonden in de Nederlandse muziekscene als intuïtief songwriter, producer en creative professional.

Het podium is voor Kyanni een tweede thuis. Haar pad leidde haar langs winnende talentenjachten en optredens op plekken zoals BIRD Rotterdam, waar zij het voorprogramma verzorgde voor Juny Martina. Naast haar passie voor muziek en optreden begrijpt zij de industrie van binnenuit; zo deed zij ervaring op als producent van evenementen en digitale media, en liep zij stage bij het North Sea Jazz Festival.

May Florance is een Nederlandse singer-songwriter die fusion pop maakt met een filmische en intieme sound. Haar muziek voelt als korte verhalen, eerlijk, kwetsbaar en vol emotie. Waarmee ze tijdens live optredens een directe connectie maakt met haar publiek.
Geïnspireerd door minimalistische en experimentele artiesten, blijft ze groeien en haar sound verbreden. Met haar muziek wil May mensen raken die zich ongezien voelen, terwijl ze ook staat voor representatie van vrouwen van kleur en multiculturele artiesten. ✨

Eline Ajowa is een Nederlands-Ghanese artiest die pop, R&B en Afrobeats samenbrengt in haar muziek. Doordat ze is opgegroeid tussen Nederland en Ghana, weerspiegelt haar sound een mix van beide culturen.
