Calling Rotterdam filmmakers: Ashley Röttjers 🟢⚪

Ashley Röttjers () was the winner of the RTM Pitch 2025 with her project Regen in Augustus – we follow a day in Jasmine’s life, where visions subtly seep into the cinematic reality. After a chance encounter with a woman at a tram stop, something seems to shift within Jasmine, in this understated film about isolation and human connection.

In this interview, she delves into the filmmaking journey, sharing insights into the challenges she faced and how winning the RTM Pitch provided crucial support that shaped her project’s success.

Do you want to know more about the RTM Pitch? Read more and send your project before Sunday 30 August 2026, 23.59 CEST via: https://iffr.com/en/blog-rtm-pitch

In memory of Dicky Parlevliet (1947–2026)

“Sometimes, when I read a script or watch a film now, I wonder what Dicky would have to say about it.”

On 5 August, Dicky Parlevliet – four-decade-long IFFR colleague, mentor and driving force – passed away peacefully at her beloved Monteillet, surrounded by her loved ones and animals.

Starting her career at the festival as the assistant to founder Huub Bals, she was perhaps one of the few people to have had a relationship with every single director, right up to the present day.

Mieke van der Linden reflects on the immeasurable mark she left on the festival: from fearless winter drives to collect stranded guests from Schiphol, to years as researcher, leader and champion of talent for the Hubert Bals Fund.

Read Mieke's tribute to her great film companion, featuring words and memories from former colleagues, here: https://iffr.com/en/blog-in-memory-of-dicky-parlevliet

Lightroom: call for immersive and non-linear projects 💡

Are you developing an XR, VR, installation, performance or other immersive and interactive work and looking for industry collaborators? Or do you already have one that you'd like to see reach a larger or shared audience?

Lightroom is IFFR's industry platform for immersive and non-linear storytelling. Following its first edition at IFFR 2026, Lightroom returns with a new call for projects for IFFR 2027 together with the launch of the Lightroom Expanded development programme.

Lightroom Market brings selected projects into contact with international industry partners and institutions at two key moments: early development and late production.

Lightroom Expanded is a separate development programme for immersive projects at all stages where reaching larger or shared audiences, presenting the work repeatedly, or touring across different venues is central to the artistic or distribution ambition – in partnership with UPscaleXR () and DASHXR () and with support from Cultuurloket DigitALL ().

Submissions for both programmes are open until 15 September. Read more via: https://iffr.com/en/iffr-pro/lightroom
