Kolibri Music

Kolibri Music Independent Curated Playlists for every mood and occasion So they took a very small arrow and softly whispered a melody to it.

When gods in the ancient Mayan mythology created all things, they needed a messenger to carry out their thoughts and good wishes to the human world. The arrow took a life of its own and assumed the shape of a delicate, curious bird: The hummingbird, messenger between worlds (colibrí in Spanish). Just like the ancient hummingbird, our independent team of Kolibri playlist curators explores remote co

Do you have a wishlist of artists you'd like to see live once all of this is over? 📝 We sure do. And these guys are on it!

They sent us their song "Future Magazine" on SubmitHub this week. An unconventional hip hop banger, to say the least. It's got a strange singsong hook and a deliciously heavy bass line towards the end. The Dutch hip hop scene is full of fantastic surprises!

NEWĀRK is based in Rotterdam, driven by Rapper/songwriter WES & Drummer/producer ZEP. They are best homies since day 1 at high school. What we also found interesting about this duo is that they usually perform as a band, not as an individual artist. They've been creating music together for a while, but this is their debut EP.

Check out "Future Magazine" and other fresh hip hop acts in our "Post Malone Radio" playlist. The link is in our bio ☝️

This week's artist has an inspiring background story 🙇‍♀️ She's also known as a singer in the video game industry 🎮

Kelsey Mira's passion for music can be traced back to the tender age of 7 after battling a deadly case of bacterial meningitis. As she recovered it became clear her short-term memory had been affected due to the massive swelling of her brain.

At a time when neurologic music therapy was an understudied topic, her neurologist suggested putting everything to rhythm and melody. The creative side of her brain made new connections and essentially re-wired the injured part of her brain. She began to see music in color. Anything new that she struggled to retain, became a song.

Visit her profile to find out the rest of her story!

Kelsey Mira is now streaming on our "Best Playlist Ever" playlist. Follow the link in our bio to listen to our latest discoveries ☝️

Where's our army at? ✨ Yep, we were also mesmerized by BTS's performance of Dynamite at the Billboard Music Awards last night. Memorable choreo and fantastic visuals as ever! 👏

We can't wait for Spotify to arrive in Korea. That way we'll be able to follow their amazing music scene closer than we do now!

But until then, we do have some Asian playlists featuring BTS and other fantastic K-pop acts. We have top selections for Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, you name it!

Take our Japanese charts, for example. Link in the comments 👇

We discovered an indie-pop artist with an interesting mission ✨

AIR APPARENT is an Indian-American producer from Atlanta, Georgia now based out of San Francisco. He began crafting tunes back in 2017, his first being ‘Before It Gets Dark (Unfold Me)’ featuring vocalist Michelle Lu.

To the question on what message he wants to portray with his music, he says:

"More importantly than the individual song, I really want to help bring more of an Asian identity into popular music. Nearly every culture has rich musical traditions but somehow Asians still constitute a tiny minority among musical artists in America. In addition, among many of my Asian peers, we’ve found that creative careers like making music are often perceived in the culture as career choices that are nonviable at best and lazy at worst.

I hope that by creating great music, I can help raise awareness of other identities and experiences in the music industry and also encourage others to showcase their art."

AIR APPARENT's latest single "Cosmos" is streaming on our "Latest English Songs" playlist. Link in the comments!

STOP! ✋ We know the temptation is huge nowadays, but: Never ever pay for playlist placements, followers, listeners, and streams!

There are services on Fiverr and other companies asking you to pay a small or large sum in order to increase your streaming numbers or followers. There are Playlist Curators out there accepting payment for placement on their playlist. There are people utilizing bot farms in order to manipulate streams. These are all examples of equally bad ideas.

You risk getting your entire catalog taken down by Spotify whenever you or someone associated with you purchases fake streams or similar.

Cutting through the noise is a huge challenge nowadays, we know! 😓 But we prefer the slow and steady way. As curators, we don't accept payment for placements.

There's a shortcut to the ears of our birds, though! We accept submissions on SubmitHub every Tuesday.

Can you tell who this colorful gentleman is? Why yes, Sufjan Stevens! He's releasing his new album "The Ascension" today 🎉🎊 While we love his new experimental style, there will always be a place in our hearts for his earlier acoustic sound. Which one do you prefer?

And now it's time for some R&B with an Asian-American twist! 🌏✨

ALICE is an LA based Korean American R&B/Pop singer breaking stereotypes in the American music industry. Her goal is to help elevate the portrayal and views of Asians in America by being a powerful and vocal influence in the media. With her experience from attending Berklee College of Music, her "f**k it" type persona, and her signature silver hair and black leather clothing, she consistently delivers a fierce stage performance that leaves audience members wanting more. She has had the delight of interviewing with Teen Vogue in 2020, along with singing guide vocals for a YG Entertainment artist, and winning the CCM songwriting competition in South Korea. Remember this when you see her win her Grammy in the coming years!

Alice's latest song "Smoke It Out" is now streaming on our Viral 50 Global playlist. Go check it out on the link in our bio ☝️

We found an interesting collective from Japan!🌸 On the surface, it might remind you of Ariana Grande. But then you listen to the lyrics and dig into their background story, and it's just wow ✨In their own words:

xpxp is a project that has started in this new era.

We got sick of only kawaii Artists.

We wanna make music we wanna listen to, and creators should be a leading part.

So we kicked off.

The project consists of music creators such as Ryo Ito, TomoLow, and barbora.

Every song is a love song.

Each one of us has a soundtrack, and we wanna put it some fascinating spice to make it special.

We added xpxp's debut single "ARI" featuring to our Latest English Songs playlist. Link in bio ☝️

We're hypnotized by the mellow voice of this week's artist highlight ✨🎶✨

Ian Abel (pronounced “able”) is the q***r fantasy lovechild of an East Village comic book nerd with a heart of gold. With an oh-so-smooth velvety voice and sensual, psychedelic electro-pop arrangements, he’s like if Sam Smith met Robyn or Jessie Ware met James Blake, all with a side of Peter Gabriel. He’s not just your standard indie voice.

Ian Able released his debut EP Icarus in 2016 and has since become a fixture in the New York alternative pop scene, including packed shows at Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, Goldsound's, and Lovecraft Bar.

Ian is dropping his next single "Mirror Mirror" on Tuesday - and we'll be among the first playlisters to bring this silky voice to your ears. To discover artists like this before any of your friends do, follow our "Latest English Songs" playlist. Link in bio!
