Zeeland is where I live, with the sea as inspiration and for many summer memories. My client was eager to take the tide line home to be always surrounded by this memory.

The artwork is inspired by the versatile color palette of the madder plant. It reminds us of the value of naturally dyed materials.

A combination of the centuries-old use of madder as a dye and the even much older technique of felting wool.

LUCHT
Het derde kunstwerk voor uit een serie van drie
Een ode aan de kunstenaars van Domburg

Domburg, op het voormalig eiland Walcheren, wordt ten dele omringd door het zeewater, dat een belangrijke rol speelt bij de reflectie van het zonlicht. Door een relatief hoog zoutgehalte van de lucht wordt het licht bijna transparant. De schittering van het licht over het vlakke open land langs de kust kan overrompelend zijn.

Het tweede kunstwerk voor hotel uit een serie van drie
Een ode aan de kunstenaars van Domburg

In Vlaanderen en Nederland ontstaat het Luminisme, een stroming die nauw verwant is aan het Pointillisme. De naam verwijst naar het effect dat bereikt wordt door het onvermengd gebruiken van kleuren. Hierdoor lijkt het of al die kleine verftoetsen gaan schitteren, of er beweging in het schilderij komt.

Een ode aan de kunstenaars van Domburg

Het eerste kunstwerk is Aarde:

Vanaf de 19de eeuw wordt Domburg internationaal bekend als kuuroord. Badplaatsen lijken van nature kunstenaars te trekken. In Domburg wordt die aantrekkingskracht nog verhoogd door de ongekunstelde schoonheid van de omgeving, de bijzondere lichtinval langs de kust en de weerschijn ervan over het land
van Walcheren.
