A series of LiDAR 3D scans were taken on site Gipsbergwerk Schleitheim. Due to the low light condition of the underground mining cave, laser scanning was necessary. The intricate geometries of the caves were then re-cast in ceramics during the residency at .

These pieces have become the fleeing moments of geological site, digital touch and physical materiality.

From mountain to cave, from the darkness of the earth to the black box of AI, Studio Pararaum reconsiders the relationship between our contemporary material landscape and the act of geologicla extraction by interveawing architecture, memory and technolgy.

Behold the stool that lies before you—a relic, a testament, a mere fragment imbued with the recollections of the mountain and the human collective. It stands as an artifact, whispering of memories lying beneath us.

Here we share with you a few impressions of our latest creation - a series of functional art objects that capture the memory of beneath the earth.

Here's a peek into our iterative process interweaving the digital and the analog:
1️⃣ Lidar Scans: the enigmatic underground mining caves are captured using Lidar scanning technology. This allowed us to capture the intricate form, details and textures of these hidden spaces.
2️⃣ Stable Diffusion Fine-Tuning: the physical cave artefacts are then becomes the dataset for the training stable diffusion fine-tune models to find the in-between forms of the many forms of the cave.
3️⃣ Hand-Built Clay Models: translating the AI form from 2D to 3D, we intuitively sculpted each piece to bring the history of the caves in a tangible body.
4️⃣ Sensuous Spaces: Art objects that not only serve a functional purpose but also evoke a sense of connection to the hidden spaces beneath the ground.

Stay tuned for more about our process and collection.

Today we asked AI what she/he/it sees in our work. By giving this image to clip interrogator, the interpretation includes the following key words: a small stool, fossil, connectedness, and made by Jiao Bingzhen - a famous Chinese painter and astronomer from the Qing dynasty. Not bad!

„a close up of a small stool on a white surface, by Jiao Bingzhen, mingei, black oil bath, fossil, daniel merrian :: ornate, smoking with squat down pose, trending on artforum, cart wheels, artforum, sold at an auction, connectedness, rubber waffle outsole, fig.1, sold for, miniature.“
