The A.Vogel Nederland visitor centre is still a ‘green beauty’. The 340 m² pitched green roof makes the building blend perfectly into the landscape, as it was always meant to be.

A roof that is built to last! The water-retaining fleece, anti-shear supports, a specially developed roof garden substrate and pre-grown sedum mats keep the roof stable and functional on slopes of up to 45 degrees.

Roofs like this also contribute greatly to biodiversity, water buffering and the cooling of the building, and give visitors an extra green welcome.

At the new Railway Institute of RWTH Aachen University, everything revolves around innovation. That is why the project team chose a sustainable, future-proof building envelope with a façade that is green from day one.

Laura Langohr of Beißel Architekten explains why:

In Switzerland, our partner Hodel & Partner has installed these green façades at the Landquart Fashion Outlet. Multiple green walls break up the grey concrete, making the location more attractive for visitors.

But the walls are more than an eye-catcher: they give the otherwise grey structure a biodiversity boost that bees and butterflies are happy to use.

Yesterday was World Animal Day, and we celebrated it by welcoming a new colleague!

This is Guus. He's a big fan of anything green and will be joining our sales team. In his free time, Guus likes to bring his friends along to find green spots in the city and play hide and seek. Sometimes they even bring a ball to chase.

We're happy with Guus and his enthusiasm, but we're not sure it will work out. Guus takes a lot of naps during office hours, so we might have to have a little talk.

How do you safely store rainwater without giving up playground space for the kids? As you might have suspected, the answer was found on top of the roof.

Together with our partner Easy Sedum, we realised this truly incredible multifunctional green roof on top of Biezonderwijs in Tilburg. The roof, of almost 1,000 m² of greenery, supports biodiversity, can store up to 70,000 litres of rainwater, and the 200 solar panels generate renewable energy.

Now, this school is getting the absolute most out of its roof.
