This year, ENCI Maastricht once again takes part in Open Monumentendagen.

The 2026 theme, Resilient Heritage (Veerkrachtig Erfgoed) couldn’t be more fitting for a place like ENCI.

For nearly a century, ENCI played a vital role in shaping Maastricht and rebuilding the Netherlands. Today, this remarkable industrial site is entering a new chapter where heritage is carefully preserved while making space for culture, creativity, living and working.

During Open Monumentendagen 2026 (September 12 and 13), we invite you to explore the many layers of ENCI’s story. From a prehistoric tropical sea and the rise of the cement industry to the site’s transformation into a vibrant place for future generations.

Join us for a weekend of exhibitions, guided tours, lectures, performances, live music and family activities.

Earlier this month, Natalya Thelen transformed the ENCI Silo into an immersive sonic environment with Liminance – a graduation performance exploring the space between sound, body and emotion before language.⁠

Through resonance, voice and vibration, the silo became more than a backdrop: its raw concrete architecture and layered acoustics actively shaped the experience, drawing visitors inward into a moment of embodied introspection.⁠

A second throwback to Museumnacht 2026 at ENCI – MensMachina by Kunstacademie Maastricht × KAKAMAMA.

A human-driven installation brought to life by a group of young artists, guided by Mike Moonen (), Stef Lemmens (.lemmens), and Pablo Hannon (). It was incredible to see how people interacted with the installation, how it truly came alive through presence and participation.

A big shoutout and heartfelt thanks to this incredible group: Fay Berenstein, Noor Calis, Eva Giessing, Zoë Swinkels, Jip Houtvast, Zara de Klerk, Cleo Langer, Joris Menger, Nina Den Otter, Fabienne van de Pitte, Simon van Rossum, Lars Schols, Tycho Schrijen, and Fien van der Vleugel. So much appreciation for your talent, energy and collaboration. And this was just the beginning.

We ended the night with DJ Lila on top of the container, where Brazilian funk kept everything moving until the very end.

Here’s the first throwback to Museumnacht 2026. Spielplatz with Botsen & Knallen. An impressive and moving performance about how we came into being with a bang, and perhaps one day return to it.

Huge admiration – chapeau to for bringing this performance to life, once again.
