Welcoming Glad to our Set the Mood series with her view on the perfect opening set.

As an artist from Montpellier (FR), from the SPU crew, Glad became familiar with repetitive music in the early 2000s. Her encounter with the underground scene quickly turned into a true passion, leading her to computer-assisted composition (MAO), blending techno tempos with strong tribal layers. Inspired by the hypnotic sounds of rave and mental techno, she soon let her art of mixing emerge, fueled by those influences and that striking energy.

Set the Mood with Renwick!

Renwick operates in the deeper end of techno raw, hypnotic and stripped back. His sets are built on tension rather than release, using textured loops and low-end pressure to slowly pull the listener inward. This mix, dedicated to Silent Servant, moves from fractured rhythms into a driving, immersive flow, closing in a cold and introspective space. 🌑

Based in Manchester, Renwick embraces restraint in his selections favoring atmosphere, grit and subtle shifts over obvious peaks. His sound is uncompromising and deliberate, creating a space where rhythm and emotion quietly take control. No excess, no shortcuts just pure, hypnotic energy.

ACTANT is a DJ from New Zealand, living in Dresden, Germany, who is firmly committed to uncompromising techno that is dark and intense. As well as DJing, he is co-founder of the regular Hypnosis party series and hosts the DYSTOPIA podcast.

Introducing Daniel Plainview, an Irish techno DJ living in Amsterdam. He is drawn to otherworldly soundscapes, dark grooves, hypnotic rhythms and relentless percussion. With these tools he crafts tense and shocking narratives of heavy pressure and unexpected release.

This opening set is inspired by Arrakis, the desert planet setting of Frank Herbert's Dune.

We begin in eerie ambiance; the black void of space. Soft rhythms and awesome melodies conjure the vastness of an undiscovered expanse. Vibrant grooves emerge as the heaving metropolises beneath Arrakis' surface are uncovered. Conflict erupts between colonial powers vying for the planet's resources, represented by foreboding, militant patterns. An unexpected conclusion heralds the victory of a messianic new ruler.

Introducing Means&3rd, the alias of Manchester-based DJ and producer Ben Marsden. Means&3rd has spent over two decades shaping his sound within the city’s vibrant electronic music scene. Living in Manchester since 2007, his journey has spanned musical education, event promotion, and a long-standing role at the legendary Eastern Bloc Records, where he curates the house and techno sections, and curates the venue's busy events calendar.

A regular fixture at venues such as The White Hotel, Soup Kitchen, Stage & Radio and Eastern Bloc’s very own club nights, his sets channel a headier, textured, and driving vision of techno that thrives in extended sessions.

Building on this foundation, he launched his own imprint, Unveiled Nuance, a label and event series showcasing his evolving productions. With three releases already out and more in motion for 2026, Means&3rd continues to define a precise and distinct sonic identity—one rooted in experience, intuition, and an enduring passion for underground culture that continues to inspire him.

Introducing Kanda, part of our Oefenmeesters team, an artist with deep roots in the Techno scene. He started out spinning records at illegal raves in Utrecht, always gravitating toward the heavy, groovy side of Techno. This time around he pushes the break to create the ideal startup mix. The perfect set to open up the atmosphere to what the night might bring.✨

Today, Kanda is also the host of the Cycles Podcast, a platform dedicated to sharing fresh talent and music with the community. He’s an active member of the Oefenmeesters collective, organizing events and livestreams that keep the energy flowing.

His sound is defined by elusive atmospheres, funky rhythms, and full-on energy. Music runs through Kanda’s veins, driving him to craft the perfect mix every time🖤

Set the Mood with Adrian Skiba!

Poland born and Manchester based DJ and producer, SKZ, began his journey into electronic music as a teenager through listening to music and raving in his hometown of Olsztyn. After moving to Manchester in his early twenties he began to explore DJing and producing of various genres of electronic music under a different alias.
In 2021 he established his new alias, SKZ, which focuses strictly on hypnotic, textured, but still very driving techno. He’s the co-founder of the event series, podcast and platform, Refractiøn and resident of Polish Techno.logy. After years of working behind the scenes Adrian starts releasing music in 2022 nad quickly gain music support from names like Takaaki Itoh, Tensal, Svreca, Lakej and many more. In 2025 Adrian launch his own label ,,Arya’’ .
