Performance: 3 June 2022, 2324JP Leiden, at The Dance Collector Studio.
We are presenting 2 solo works. One from Marjan Raar and one From Rens Borkent.
First Solo:
“Songs from Strangling Earth.”
This solowork is inspired by the music and sound from the band Bikkie Skeef. I live with it, work
with it, listen to it, love it and struggle with it.
The dark and mysterious sound was and still is a challenge for me to work with.
The many sound layers, the underlying meaning and the unpredictable changes are still
demanding my full concentration as a dancer and choreographer in this piece. I’ve been listening
uncountable times to the soundtrack on my headphones to learn and recognize places important
to remember. And I’m still working on it…
The second solo:
An entity with access to higher dimensions would perceive our reality similarly to how we perceive the reality of characters in a comic book. And just how we are able to, at whim, change the story simply by telling it differently, this higher being would be able to effortlessly make alterations to not just local reality, but reality as a whole, altering the baseline and changing its most fundamental aspects.
