Hi there people!

On Wednesday 15th September at 19:00 I will be hosting a workshop African Percussion (West and diaspora) for FREE!!

It’s an opportunity to meet and greet and get to know the basics of drums like the djembe, doundoun, sabar and many other instruments!

Parents with young kids (from age 8 and upwards) are also very welcome to both participate!

I also give separate kid’s lessons!

NEW DJEMBE AND DUNDUN COURSE FOR BEGINNERS (coronoaproof)

Starting: 7th October from 19.00-20.00

The location is inside the Kaasmarktschool in a large gymhall where all precautions to prevent spread of coronavirus will be maintained (enough distance, basic hygiene of materials and hands and possible use of facemasks).

This course will tackle the basic techniques and myriad of rhythms from several West African countries (and its diaspora) were these instruments originate.
You will learn the first arrangements of richly layered and infectious percussion pieces to delight the ear and move the body!
Previous musical experience is not neccesary, an interest in learning a non-western musical style a must!

Students get a 10% discount and the course runs for 10 lessons of an hour, total cost €100,-.

Instruments: djembes, doundouns and accessories are provided at the location and also for sale!

Alweer een tijdje terug maar toch errug fijn om weer eens terug te zien; 150 kids aan het trommelen van basischool De zuidwester uit Haarlem. Met dank aan al hun personeel, de kids, de ouders en vooral ook Kees van der Meer op de douns. Daarna keek ik wel effe scheel, hahaha...
